Vanos Solenoid Actuator

I am attempting to replace my vanos solenoid actuators on my car (‘18 540) but having a hard time turning the actuators due to clearance issues. I’ve only attempted the following on the exhaust side but the intake side seems like it will be just as much (or more) of a PITA.

I have tried using a small flathead to pry up between the metal clip and actuator but can’t seem to get it to turn.

I bought the special tool for removing the actuators (a spanner wrench) but I can’t seem to position the wrench where it needs to be and be able to turn it without hitting the bottom of the windshield cowling.

I attempted to remove the cowling but it seems like it is screwed or clipped in somewhere that I can’t see. Sure, I could muscle it but I get the feeling I’ll break it, then have to fork out ~$150 for a new one.

Does anyone have any advice on how to remove the cowling or otherwise go about swapping out the actuators? Haven’t seen a post or video for a g30 so hoping someone can help.

Thanks in advance!
