2009 z4 m
can anyone confirm what's the story with the 2009 edition z4 m?
i have heard several rumors ranging from - -there will be no 2009 m version of the z4 -it will get the new m3's v8 -there will be just one model; no coupe, just a roadster with a hard retractble top -all production is to be shifted from the US to Germany anyone care to dispell the rumors and state some facts? thanks. |

Can confirm production will be shifted from US to Germany to free up production capacity in Spartanburg for the X6 and new X3.
Don't know about the other questions.

Those ''in the know'' have stated that it will be lighter. I also hear that the N54 will get a progressive bump in power. I wouldnt listen to anything on the Z4M right now. BMW denied up until the end that the current version wouldnt get one....and it DID.
The factory performance version of the 1er and the new TTI6 Z4 is what I'm holding out for.

I was under the impression that the Z4 M was cancelled for '09 because the S54 won't meet emissions standards, and it would more or less be replaced by a Z4 35si with the N54.

Emmett, the Z4 with the N54 wont cut it as a performance model. An M3 would still eat it for lunch. I would expect the performance of the TTI6 to be on par, if not a smidge better than the 135i. They are making X5-M, X6-M, etc. There is no excuse whatsover to not have a Z4M. NONE.

^^I never said it would an M. Many say the N54 would be potent enough but I disagree. You are correct in saying a Z4M is waaaays away.

thanks for this information but you pose new questions. an n54 in a z4 is not a step up from the current z4m, but i was so hoping the rumor of the v8 from the m3 ending up there was true!! looks like there is nothing to do but wait for more info from the grapevine on this.....

Nice coupe but that's not a Z4 M. Just a Z4 3.0si I imagine. Z4 M has quad pipes.

And it's not a Z4M coupe, it's a M coupe. I have heard there were great deals to be had on them when 1 was released. I think few people got M couple out the door for 44k.

As robert stated. Many members on 1addicts have managed to get new Z4M out the door for the low 40's. If I had the money and practicality was not necessary I would be all over this.

"We can see enough of this prototype Z4 roadster testing at the Nurburgring to tell that it is slightly larger than the current car and features a retractable steel roof...adding weight and complexity. No surprises: The 3.0, six-cylinder engines for this [U.S.] market will include the normally aspirated N52 and the N54 twin-turbo. European customers can specify a diesel. The series production version will bow at next year's Frankfurt extravaganza; a year later, M versions get the M3's S65 4.0-liter V8. Production moves from Spartanburg SC to Regesnburg, Germany. No word yet about a coupe."

Those were 07 models, which were new, but as 07s they have depreciated too so they should be discounted. Still, I would have jumped on it as well instead of having to order an 08. But thanks to military pricing, my price wasn't too bad.
