Seat Trim - Annoying Part

Does anyone have a guide or video on how to fix/attach this part? It comes loose very often which is annoying.

Thanks

Unfortunately I have the same problem and have been unable to find an answer.

Anyone have experience with these under-seat trim parts?

Cheers

If it keeps popping off, chances are one of the permanent clips are broken. It's a very common failure area as it can take a beating from heavy passengers. You probably feel like it's popped in and then someone sits in the seat and it pops off.

Pop it off completely and inspect. If a tab or two are broken, just get a new one. I replaced the seat trim on my E39 and the parts were surprisingly cheap.

Ditto above...the outer seat trim (#1 in diagram) clips to the seat. If it keeps coming off, then some of the clips are either broken, or the trim needs to be securely refitted to the seat. (FYI...the encircled numbers in the diagram refer to hardware.)

Damn you are good. I tried my best to find these guys a part number and gave up after 5 minutes. I think it is part #5 in your diagram that they need.

Thank you for this, Quicksilver7, this is helpful. No matter what I do, I cannot seem to get the trim pieces to lock into place. I took a video of what I am encountering, it’s a shame you cannot upload videos to the forum directly, so I uploaded it to Reddit.

I had ordered these two parts, numbers 5 and 6 in the images Quicksilver7 provided above. These pieces were missing from the car when I bought it CPO’d back in June last year. For the life of me, I cannot seem to get them to snap into place. I took a video of what I am experiencing and uploaded it to Reddit.

Yep...you're right. Now that I've seen the OP's video...looks like their issue is with the seat rail cover which is #5 in the diagram (not #1 as I initially thought).

Here's instructions for removing the outer seat rail cover & front seat rail cover:

  • Unclip outer seat rail cover (1) in the direction of arrow (2).
  • Remove outer seat rail cover (1) in the direction of arrow (3).

Removing front seat rail cover (#6 in diagram above)
  • Unlock the latch mechanisms (1).
  • Remove front seat rail cover (2) in the direction of the arrow.

  • Fully adjust the front seat to the front and top.
  • Loosen screw (1).
  • Remove end fitting (2).

  • Loosen screws (1)

Thanks, got mine fixed because of this thread. Moved passenger seat forward almost as far as it goes, aligned the back of 5 (slightly lifted vertically and shifted toward front of car so 5 and 6 aligned) then snapped the front of 5 downward onto 6. There seemed to be a tab in the front of 5 if you look or feel for it you align it with a hole near the edge of 6.
