Handheld scanner recommendations

Hi. I have BimmerCode and Bimmertech apps already, but sometimes it would be nice to just quickly grab a handheld scanner, plug it into the OBD2 connector and check systems and codes. I have about a $300-$400 max budget.

What scanner would you guys recommend to pull live data, codes (of course), and possibly reset systems like the airbag and battery and any other BMW specific systems. Also, it would also be nice to use it on other makes and models for friends and family. What scanners would you guys recommend? Thanks.

I've used XTool before and they seem to be fairly good. You can find them on Amazon at around that $300 to $400 price point.

I have a cheap Foxwell that has surprised me and has paid for itself several times over.
