540i 2021 suspension noise

Hello. I just got a used 540i recently. I could hear some clicking noise when passing bumps from both drive and passenger side if i lower the window. Does anyone know which joint this clicking from? is this normal? it's M passive suspension.
If I close the windows I couldn't hear anything.
here is some clips thank you for your help.

It's funny you post this now, I litterally just posted the same problem the other day. You have the same year and same suspension / brakes as my car. I think we are asking about the same issue. Here is my thread:
https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2187434

If you look at the video in post #5, I think it sounds exactly like your noise.
The weird part is that my video on the outside sounds exactly like your sound, but I found that on my car, the rear caliper has some play in it when I grab it and shake it (there is a link in one of the posts). The sound shaking the caliper, and the sound inside my car sounds more like a clunk. However, in my video as well as yours, it sounds a little more like a rattle.
I'm trying to find a solution, but I'm having trouble. If you come up with something, please let me know.

thank you for sharing your information. I think our issue are very close. I will double check the caliber tomorrow. My rattling sounds is like a loose bolt but both sides all have exactly same noise, how could both size loose at the same time. Maybe it's by design. If I found anything will update. cheers.

Did you shake the brakes like this to see if they make noise?
Make sure the parking brake is off and grab the metal bracket on the side of the caliper and shake with force.

Thanks for updating!

I think I will take it to the dealer when I get a chance to see if they come up with anything. I will update this thread once I do that.

I also have no solution yet. I'm also not convinced that it's my rear brakes because I tried applying and dragging the brake when hitting the bumps, and there was no change. If it was the brakes shaking, the noise should stop when I'm applying the brake, so I'm still very confused.

Have the same year same car 2021 540i xdrive and have the same sound from my suspension. When I bought the car last year I had a non-bmw mechanic we have used for all our other cars for over 20 years put it up and check it out.

He brought me under the car and we checked everything (shook what we could as hard as we dared to). Even when I was under the car replacing fluids I would visually inspect.

Found nothing. No joints moving that shouldn't no boot cracks, nothing. I'm glad two other people with the same car are experiencing this.

I have the m sport package so m sport brakes and trim. We did hear something from the brakes but again like you both not the same noise as when going over bumps. Also cannot hear with windows closed.

I've had to just accept that over certain bumps my car sounds like a POS haha!

It's odd because it only happens when I'm going about 25mph over certain bumps. Other bumps at higher speed I don't hear anything. I drove around an entire day last year with windows down and stereo off just to try and replicate the issue.

I put chassis ears on the car at different locations on the suspension. The 2 spots I heard noise were the brake calipers, and the shock. The interesting part is that all the noises are the same on the left and right side. Also, when I drag the brake, the clunking from the brake stops, but the noise from the shock continues. So based on the fact that during a drive over bumps, the noise doesn't seem to change when I drag the brakes, so apparently, the noise that's bothering me is not the caliper. At this point, I'm pretty sure it is the shocks/struts. But since the noise is exactly the same left and right (and the car has under 4,000 miles, and never hit any bad bumps), I don't suspect damage. Which leaves the possibility of a bad design (I'm stuck then, unless I want to go with aftermarket), a production lot of bad shocks, a bad torque wrench at the factory when installing the top bolts (I couldn't reach them to check tightness). I can't think of any other possibility at this time. Unfortunately the noise is irritating me and I would love to fix it!
