I'm not into Giant SUVs and never will be. But... I can appreciate the market for them. It certainly looks the part. I believe they missed a huge opportunity by not installing the mighty GT-R powrplant. Although that would have pushed the price up beyond 6 figures. But I commend Nissan for not "throwing in the towel or waiving the white flag" just yet.

I mean everyone loves Taylor Swift right?
Right? This might not be throwing in the towel, but one hell of a last failed cash grab by a marque that has no clue why people liked their cars 2 decades ago.

Target market for this thing here. I haven't drove one yet obviously, but I think Nissan smashed it out of the park mostly.
The red accents are too much for me, but those can be easily resolved on the outside with some vinyl. The interior... Hopefully they offer it in all black too, lol. The other big miss IMO is the power. For context, this is the most powerful fullsize SUV now outside the Escalade V (which is 3 of these expensive), and grand Wagoneer (which makes no accusations of it being sporty The next most powerful is the Expedition Stealth performance at 450hp but it's more expensive, but it's likely lighter and honestly is surprisingly quick. However, I'm told that the rest of the world version of this get 495hp vs the 465 of this, which is disappointing. 495hp would put aside any concerns of this not being as fast as expedition. Armada was already the most athletic in this class (the athletic fat kid isn't much of a badge of honor, but when you're already in this size class it helps). So this with more power, a better suspension, and those sweet 22" forged wheels is probably going to be the pick for the best driving fullsize SUV. Another area I'm disappointed is the brakes. They appear to just be the stock base brakes. I would have liked to see some nice Brembo or similar brakes, not because I think that this will ever see a track, but truthfully it just as a package completing thing. Other zonk, this will have the 9 speed that's basically a Mercedes transmission. It may be a great transmission, I dunno, but it's not going to be as well supported a ZF 8 speed. In the end, it's certainly on our list of vehicles to consider. I'm sure you'll be able to score a sweet deal on these with incentives, or a barely used one for crazy cheap too. If the aftermarket support for these works out, I could see some of these with a tune and maybe some bolt on stuff like downpipe and intercooler. |

Freakin LOVE my 3 week old 25 Pro4X.
Nissan knocked it out of the park on this new Armada. ![]() Nissan ain’t dead yet. Fit/finish/quality is ridiculous. Drives much smaller for its size. Airbag suspension kicks ass too. Very tight feeling with gobs of power.

Has anyone seen what level of features it's gonna get? If it comes with platinum level options.... That's gonna be hard to pass up.
FWIW, my wife had a Rogue up until her expedition. We only had one issue with it EVER. It was a pretty major one though, the ball joint came separated from the lower control arm on one wheel. We suspect that this was due to an alignment shop that tried to sell her a buncha unnecessary service and left that bolt.looser than they should have to get her to come back... Or a washboard road that shook the crap out of the car. Either way, Nissan made it right (though I strongly disagree with their design choice to not have a castle nut and cotter pin there). |

I'm a dad who hasn't given up on himself. My kids ride with me everywhere when I'm off work. They are perfectly content in the back of my 911 and E82. The dog even fits with them in the back of the 1er.
We have a SUV for when we need to haul equipment or tow. That's all we use it for. A truck would do too but I don't think trucks should have back seats. I grew up in the back of a wagon. If we needed more space we would have one. Eye of the beholder I guess. But this is just an unfortunate compromise and up-spec of an otherwise boring VAN.

What new 911 are you getting for $60k? You said you have an SUV for towing and stuff like that, THAT is what this is for. Instead of that SUV being boring, you can buy this and it not be boring. While I'm sure everyone would love to have an SUV, a sports car, a big car, and another car or two for whatever, a lot of people have one car per adult. The reality is that in this price range this thing is going to present a real value prop. It's going to be a little more than explorer ST but offer a lot more everything. |
