Thinking about selling my 2019 540i x drive

Hey everyone first time posting here other than selling my big boost turbo kit. Does anyone have an idea of what the resale market is like for these cars right now? I planned on doing so much to this car but I recently went from remote work to in office and have a 85 mile round trip everyday so I’m getting away from this platform for a while. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

What better platform to commute 85 miles than the G30, that too with the very reliable B58 engine?

adhrp don’t get me wrong I love the car and it’s not a bad commuter but I mainly bought it to turn it into a hpde and 1/8th mile car. I’m a taller guy at 6’8 so getting in and out can be rough and it’s definitely not the most comfortable seating position having a bad back. I’m leaning towards a suv or eco diesel truck for a daily.

Gotcha. Our good friend Mosaud1998 can tell you about the market for the 540i.

What's up, man? Sorry I haven't been on the forums lately; I've been focusing on other things. The market for the G30s is rough, man. It seems like a lot of younger kids are buying these cars and customizing them, if that makes sense.

I've been trying to sell my 540 for about a month or two now. I listed it on C&B, and the highest bid I received was $26.5k. The KBB private party value dropped from the mid-$30s to the low $30s in just a few months. I've also gotten a few offers from dealerships around $27k for trade-ins.
I think one reason the value of the G30 540s is declining is that there's nothing particularly special about the car. It has a mass-produced engine that’s in many other BMW models, and Toyota uses it too.

I don't know how many miles your 540 has or what shape it's in, but mine is a 2019 BMW 540 (AWD). I just hit 40k miles and have had it for about 3 years, putting around 11k miles on it. I don't drive it in the winter because I hate salt. The car is well cared for. It’s not fully loaded, but it does have many desirable options like the M-sport package, multi-color seats, premium package 2, HUD, and so on. It's been ceramic coated, with the whole front end protected by PPF. That doesn't matter much to dealerships, but it might appeal to a private buyer.

I've been wanting to sell the 540 for a 2011-2013 BMW M3 competition. But with marriage POSSIBLY in the picture, I think I'll just keep the 540 and the $15k~ I'd have to spend on top of selling the 540 to get into an M3.

Folks are willing to pay a premium for “unicorns” like low-mileage vehicles with high-optioned, quality aftermarket mods (OEM+), and excellent overall condition. Obviously, no one wants to pay a premium price for clapped-out vehicles.

Mine by no means is clapped out. I'd say it's probably one of the lower mileage ones, if not one of the cleaner examples out there. I haven't been able to get more than 28k, lol. I was speaking to a dealer out in Indiana. They have a 2013 M3 I thought about trading the 540 for. The owner of the dealer said mine is one of the lowest mileage ones out there. I think the average odometer(nationwide) on the 2019 G30s is around 70k.

I'm the 7th lowest mileage 2019 540 nationwide.

My 2019 540xi mileage is about 26,000 after a trip to Florida this spring. That is partly due to using my Corvette Z06 as a summer daily driver. Personally, I love the car and, since I really don't like the new BMW touchscreens, I plan to keep it a long time, just as I did with my 2010 535xi (9 years). But as to selling your cars, I have done it all, from CarMax, to dealer trade in, to private party. On the 2010 535xi, which I sold in November 2018 to make way for the 2019, I used Facebook Market. Now, I don't actually ever use Facebook for anything, but my wife occasionally does, so I gave her some text and several picture to put on the local Facebook Marketplace. She laughed at me and said it was only good for selling an old dresser or giving away things you don't want. I got four bona fide offers the first day and sold it to the first one the next. Turned out to be a friend of a friend so the transaction was easy; just took a personal check (I knew where he lived ). I had priced it about half way between wholesale (CarMax) and Dealer Retail. So while I would never otherwise use Facebook for anything, I was happy with the outcome in this case. --Bob

I think my traded 2019 540i RWD with M Sport, passive suspension, Nappa comfort seats, HK audio and 52k miles sold for $25-26k in Chicago area. More supply in larger cities probably keeps prices down a bit.

You’re all good. Yeah I’ve noticed. I got offered around 18.5k for my 2019 540 x drive. It has right under 80k miles, hud, sport line package, lkas and adaptive cruise control. That was just a Carvana offer so I’m sure I could negotiate a little higher at a dealership.
I wish mine had the m sport package it just has the sport line. I’m sure that would help the value. It does have a few chips and scratches from the previous owner but other than that in really good shape for a 6 year old car.
That m3 would definitely be nice. Good luck with your search and congrats on the possible marriage.

Facebook Marketplace is a good place to sell a car if it is priced under $15k, I'd say. Once a car exceeds that $15k range, people often prefer going to dealers because it’s easier to get financing, and if something goes wrong, they can usually take legal action against a dealer rather than a private seller. If that makes sense.

I gave up on the search . I am not going to sell the 540 for less than 32k~. But yeah, with marriage in the picture, M3 is out of the question. Has Bad as I want an M3, I don't think it's a smart decision

I definitely thought about using Facebook marketplace. I’m not on Facebook but my brother is so I’d probably be doing similar to what you did. Nice Z06, I came to the 540 after selling my supercharged 2019 mustang and I think that’s another reason I never really fell in love with the bmw. I’m definitely going to get a few more dealer offers on the car just to get an idea of what’s out there. I just need to sell these aftermarket parts first haha.

That’s not bad at all that’s right around what I’m trying to get. Hopefully it works out.

Haha trust me I feel your pain. That’s the reason I had to sell my supercharged mustang. Started having too many kids and had to get a bigger family vehicle lol. I bought the 540 hoping to make it a fun track car but still have all the luxuries of a bmw. Now I just want something bigger that sits higher. I’m a tall guy and getting in and out of a car gets old quick lol.

wow! I would have expected the 540i to be selling for more right now. CarMax offered me $22K for my ~64K mile 530e. I would have expected the 540i to be well over $10-15K above that. Since the PHEV gets a bit of a bad rap AND it is using the 4-cylinder.

Dang If they offered me 26k I’d sell it today in my case. I owe 25k so anything close to even I’d be happy. I think carmax offered me 17.5k so that’s definitely not happening.

Yeah, I'd take it to and run lol. I don't owe anything, so I guess I have that going
