Will a USB C flash drive work with any of the usb c ports in a 2022 540?

Do you mean play audio?
I thought I tried this when I got my car but I think the usb c ports are only for charging. Only the usb a port next to the cup holders plays audio

Work to do what? If you use the owners manual embedded in iDrive and do a Keyword search for USB (drives)...it should tell you what they are capable of doing (and what types of files the port can read). As mentioned in the post above...there may be multiple functions depending on the location of the USB port. But the owners manual definitely gives this information which may vary by model and installed options.

Don't know about a 2022 but a usb drive works fine on a 2019 540xi M Sport. --Bob
