You can have up to 3 displays in your G30/G31 depending on options...Headunit/iDrive screen in center of dash, Instrument Cluster, and HUD. Assuming you're referring to the Headunit/iDrive display....
On either iDrive 6 or 7, Google Maps *should* show up on your center iDrive screen in CarPlay, but not on your HUD.
On iDrive 7 only, Apple Maps should show up on center iDrive screen and HUD due to CarPlay integration.
My instrument cluster maps diplay are turned off (nothing showing between speedo and tach) so I don't know if they are supposed to show up there.

This is what I see now, replicating next turn and distance to it from google maps, in instrument cluster. Never did this until yesterday, I have LCI 530e. 2023

There is an instrument cluster display setting with check box to display map directions or not. I keep mine off but you could have had an OTA update that turned it on for you if you didn’t yourself.
