Has anyone lifted the car up onto 4 jackstands and has a pretty good technique how they did it?

I've done two jack stands and two hydraulic jacks. Didn't bother with 4 jack stands as the car wasn't off the ground for too long.

Basic process is drive the front wheels onto blocks (timber or other) to raise the front enough to get a jack under the front. There is a jack point directly under the engine. Then I jacked up the front and put the two jack stands underneath. I pulled the hydraulic jack, moved it to the rear and used a spare jack to hold up the other corner.

Tips...use rubber or timber under each jack point on the car to protect them from being damaged. They are surprisingly fragile.

Note: DO NOT GET UNDER THE CAR WHILST USING HYDRAULIC JACKS!!!

Cool pics... thanks a lot..

So is there also a middle jack point in the back if I want to put the car up on 4 jack stands (and use the same technique that was used on the front to get the jack stands in in place)??

My car manual is at my parents place and I am at my apartment! I had it out the other night when i was there and left it... I am sure this information can be found in that but since I dont have it in hand I can't tell..

thanks again!

There is a jack point at the back, but not really quite a dedicated point, but rather just a safe point to lift from. And the manual only talks about the four jack points around the car on the side.

From TIS manuals

My jack stands are rated at 750kg each and pass the Australian Standards which are normally pretty tough on things like these.

Are those flat-topped jack stands? If so, I would love to know where I can find those even though I am in the US.

I'm not sure what you have access to, but I found the easiest method to get the car off the ground was through the use of 2 jacks and 3 jack stands.

Here's the process I used:
  1. Chocked the front wheels for safety-sake.
  2. Jacked up the rear of the car using the differential case as a jack point.
  3. Placed 2 of the jack stands under the rear plastic jack points.
  4. Lowered the jack and move it to one of the two front jack points and the other jack to the opposite side.
  5. Had someone help evenly jack the car up (this could have been done alone by jacking a few pumps at a time and alternating between sides).
  6. Once the car was up in the air we placed the 3rd jack stand under the center pad towards the front of the car. Lower the jacks slightly to put pressure on this stand and then gave each jack a 1/4-1/2 pump to keep the weight evenly distributed in the front.
**This process is for informational purposes only. If anyone reading this follows these directions and hurts themselves in the process it's not my fault!
