I talked to one of the Dinan guys about a week or so ago. He said they had a bunch of stuff coming out literally any day. So, there should be an exhaust and different signature packages coming out.
Personally, I'm looking at the stage 1 suspension and potentially the exhaust. |

I would love to go the Dinan route in terms of mods, because to me I like knowing that those things are warrantied the same length as BMW parts, but BMW of Honolulu cut its ties with Dinan a few months ago :'( What's a guy to do now?

Yep, one of the three BMW dealers in my area dropped Dinan service recently. I hope it's not a continuing trend because overall the BMW/Dinan partnership makes sense to me.

I'll be very frank with my opinion of BMW as of lately. I'll admit I am a BMW fanatic now, but these things irk me alot about BMW/BMW dealerships. First runflat tires on anything other than an M Car, what the hell? So the moment I put standard tires on my car its voided because I don't have an M badge, what a bunch of BS. Secondly, why the hell do I know more than anyone at my dealership in regards to my car (I have mainly this site and everyone on the site to thank for that). Lastly, what the hell is up with the BMW/Dinan tiff? I've seen the Dinan video on how they conduct business and they seem incredibly top notch and are willing to warranty their products the same as BMW. BMW should have taken Dinan under their wing along time ago. Its quite sad that Steve Dinan and his small team of engineers and techs can do what BMW has lost its balls to do from the beginning. Damn it BMW, stop bullying Dinan, they're only going to help boost your sales.

Here in SoCal, there are a number of BMW shops that are Authorized Dinan shops - maybe there is one in Honolulu?

You're misinformed. Dinan and BMW were partnered before, and BMW dropped Dinan for the obvious reason of wanting their own performance parts, and also because they had problems with Dinan's warranty process. It can't speak for BMW NA LLC, but from a dealership point of view it's obvious why BMW has certain restrictions against tuning in any form. If you want to tune, say bye to your warranty of that specific area. It's been that way forever, not just with Dinan. Run flats are standard to save someone in a tight situation, and also to save the rim. Many times when someone gets a flat, the rim is messed up too. Do I agree with run flats? No, but it's clear why they put them on there. I enjoy my regular Toyo TR1's.
I'm here to help save you guys money from dealerships high costs, but also to protect the company that I love. BMW treats it's warranty as promised. If you want to deal with Dinan, accept Dinan's warranty process as well. I have Dinan parts on my car, it's not like I'm against Dinan. I've accepted that even though I work at a dealership, I wouldn't get the parts that I needed warrantied through BMW, it would be through Dinan. My next car will be strictly BMW Performance & Riss Racing

BMW didn't necessarily "drop" Dinan. BMW dealerships are still selling and servicing Dinan parts and cars. Dinan pays for the warranty coverage, but BMM still does the work. If the BMW dealer is a Dinan dealer, the process is transparent to the customer.

BMW and Dinan are no longer partnered is what I'm saying. Dealerships are not encouraged to sell Dinan parts from what I'm understood to believe. There are a lot of Dinan certified shops but are in no association with BMW itself

I honestly can't see BMW offering their own tune to customers for quite some time - if ever. It's just not a high-priority item for them especially right now with this bad economy. Afterall, we've already been waiting forever for REAR performance rotors. |

Yes, it really depends on the dealer. The two near me are all about selling Dinan products and BMW performance products.
Dan, you're obviously very pro BMW (with good reason), and subsequently BMW performance, but your post can be construed as saying that BMW is no longer Dinan friendly. That is just not the case, at least not at all dealerships. |

I'm pro BMW and pro BMW tuning, but my point was that if you want to tune there is a consequence to it. Dinan, Alpina, JB, V3, or whatever it may be will likely void your BMW factory warranty. Do I like BMW Performance? Of course! Do I like Dinan? Of course! BMW dealerships still do Dinan but there aren't as many as they used to be. I have nothing against Dinan, just proceed with caution on all aftermarket parts.

I don't care if it's BMW performance, Dinan or whomever…I'll gladly deal with whatever warranty issues as long as someone sells something that rids the ridiculous amount of under-steer in this car.
Edit: Oops. Oversteer in this car is wishfull thinking!

Hmm. Does this offer anything that Vorshalg or TC Kline doesn't at this price point? I don't really see any advantage to the Dinan components.
