That Blasted Gong

Is anyone aware of a way to turn off that blasted gong that comes on when you don't buckle up? i know you can turn it down to -5 in the audio controls but that still seems awfully loud and annoying to me.
hopefully someone's found a solution/

Yeah, wear your seat belt. That'll stop the noise.

There is a reason why it is annoying. Even driving to the corner store without bucking up is an offense in every jurisdiction. It is also dangerous and foolhardy.

The ideal thing would have been for the gong to go off if you're not buckled once you're moving.

Good point. But I guess by then you should be buckled up already.

I suspect most people, especially in warm weather, immediately fire up the car ahead of buckling up, and it's hard to get buckled up after that without at least two gongs.

But I could be wrong...

Comfort Access should be wired so that pressing the start button won't work unless the fob is in the car and the seat belt is buckled.

I don't think the car should start if you don't eat your vegetables too. Oh and if it is a sunday, the only place you can drive is church. I understand that everyone should wear seatbelts for safety's sake, but it isn't the cars job to gong you into wearing it.

It would be part of natural selection if stupid people didn't wear their seatbelt and were subsiquently eliminated from the gene pool in a crash. So really the everlasting gong goes against nature.

The problem with stupid people, or stupid drivers, is they often take other people down with them who do happen to wear their seat belts

you could just buy a male buckle and leave it permanently in the female end of the buckle. From a junkyard or something... My pug tends to set off the passenger seat dinging. That's what I would do....

I agree with the safety sentiments, but always do my belt up after I've started the car. I think maybe speed limit the car to 10km/hr unless the belt is on.

I can't believe how many people want more nannies on cars. It could be evidence of how no one seems to take personal responsibility for anything anymore. A couple of gongs to say hey your seatbelt isn't connected is fine, anything more than that is unnecessary and intrusive.

Wanting a car that would limit the speed if not buckled in is just silly. If you aren't able to recognize a few gongs as a sign your not buckled in, then you better stay off the road because you are not perceptive enough to be driving with others around. If you want it for your kids, raise your kids to where their seatbelts. Its this crazy concept called parenting, used to be common practice years ago but aparently it fell out of favor and few people use it anymore.

Seriously if you need a car company to tell you to where your seatbelt than you are too dumb to drive IMO.

Not everything's about you buddy. I was talking to the people who clearly don't wear one, like Year1of1.

I wear mine all the time, but there's times I throw my flight bag in the passenger seat, etc. Whether we wear the seatbelt or not, it isn't BMW's job to ensure that we do or not. And it is crazy the lengths some people want to go to because they think BMW knows whats best for them. If you don't want to wear your seatbelt that is up to you, I don't think it is BMW's job to ensure you do.

If you are one of those that say it raises insurance costs, then allow the insurance companies to not have to pay for injuries caused by not wearing seatbelts or better yet if you were proven to be intoxicated and caused the accident.

I just find it "odd" that people don't wear a seat belt, that's all.

Not only are they not wearing seat belts but they come on a message board and brag about it, weird.
