128i magnaflow exhaust in R&d

sent my 128i to magnaflow today to get fitted for a catback. The car should come back by next week. They said they would have a dyno sheet and video up when it goes for sale. No word on how much it would cost yet. edited old video to be shorter and not so annoying.

It has 3" tips, not sure how big the muffler is, has a magnapack on there too. As to how loud it is. When turning on the car it is quieter than stock. Revving the car it slighty louder than stock, It tends to be loud around 2000 to 2500 rpms everything after that it gets softer and you here the lovely mechanical sounds of the engine. I love it. Magnaflow has not giving me any prices but on their website there cat backs cost around 1,100 to about 1,200. If you go to the magnaflow website and check out the 335i video thats what the 128i sounds but quieter. I dont know why they havent posted any vids of the car yet, But I think its on Par with the cpe exhaust in terms of tone, but quieter. There is no drone on the highways and is alot quieter than stock on the highway.

I was hoping that i would get the 2.5" double walled tips, but they seem to be putting 3" on almost all their products recently. Not complaining since it was free :-D I have been checking for the price on their website everyday since I got my car back. Hope it comes out soon for you guys.

butt dyno improvements... hmmm... it seems to breathe alot better after 3000rpms, but other wise i am all into the sound rather than the speed itself. I am trying to get a video up, but cant seem to find a quiet place to do it at and or time to do it yet.

You can tell the car goes faster, but if we can expect around 7hp most from the exhaust. can you really feel the difference? I uploaded a video on youtube of the exhaust. its off the camera i took pics of the car with. the audio is not the best didnt think the camera would pick up the highway. So when i go to the canyon i will do another video.
hope you enjoy.

Have you had any chance to get another video? Also, any information off the dyno? I have yet to see even a 128i stock on the dyno so that would be great info to have, as well as with the magnaflow on.

The great thing about the MagnaFlow exhaust is the X-pipe. To read a bit about X-pipe theory go here: http://www.carcraft.com/techarticles...ion/index.html

I dont have a cam corder to make a new video. Mine died and I am not up to buying a new cam corder right now (expensive). So until I get some extra cash lying around it will be some time before i get that video . I dont remember seeing an xpipe on my car. i am pretty sure it is a 2-1 setup though. As for dyno for a stock 128i I dont have but i have the one with the injen intake and the magnaflow on, injen.pdf. All in all the car likes to move faster now and sounds great, I just need to lighten up the car somehow. It doesnt feel like it wants to go unless forced to (anywhere above 3000rpm), unlike the mini cooper that just has the feeling it wants to go. I think its just the weight holding the car back now.

Is the "baseline" trace (blue) in the PDF the stock car... it's putting down about 200 HP to the wheels which sounds about right for stock. And then the red trace is with the intake and exhaust?

I just called Magnaflow to see if I could buy this exhaust, since I'm replacing half the exhaust because of being rear ended. Even though it is on their site and a price is listed, they told me it is still marked as a new part and hasn't been sent to production and there was no time frame on when it would be produced.

Mark me down as one missed sale.
