Airbag Warning Sticker Delete

Here's a quick little mod that I forgotten I had done on my E46 a while back, and decided to try it on the E90.

I dislike those ugly airbag warning stickers on the sun shades. So, let's remove them.

Get yourself some Goof-Off and a microfiber towel.

Saturate a quarter-sized spot on the towel with Goof-Off. Rub it onto one of the corners of the sticker. The sticker will start to peel off. You can pull on it (it's not sticky) and gradually rub more Goof-Off onto the edge of the sticker.

Eventually you'll get it all off. There may be some residue left, so rub it again with more Goof-Off.

It's still somewhat "damp" in this photo, but this should eventually fade. Also, you'll want to roll down your windows and let the car air out for a while - that stuff smells.

Edit: Someone below mentioned that he was able to remove these with warm water, so give that a try before you use the Goof Off.

I wasn't sure those would come off. Awesome, I'm going to do that (when/if my car gets out of the shop). I hate those airbag stickers.

Nice, much easier than getting the Euro-spec sun visors

I'm going to look into the cost of these. I might be headed stateside soon, and if I can get a hold of a bunch of these before I leave, I might bring them back and do a group sale or something.

EDIT: p/n are 51167960063 (left) and 51167960064 (right). Will get back about price soon....

hmm warm water eh? Interesting, didn't think it would come off that easily. Try that first, if it works, then great.

Are the sun visors different for the 2009s? I was looking at mine after reading this post and it looks like the label is actually printed on the material and it is not a sticker. I could be wrong, but any information would help. Thanks.

Well, tried burning hot water, and in 10 minutes only a corner came off, so time for plan B .

Removing the sunvisors is a piece of cake, so I started with that step. After removing the 2 visible T25 torx screws, wiggle the connector out of the hole, and pull on the connector closest to the roof of the car, not the sunvisor. Stick your fingernail where the 'hole' is (or insert a small screwdriver, but you'll dent the connector) and it'll come right out.

Took the 'Goof Off' route, which I've always used (and will always use); took all of 5 minutes to get it completely off... but the odor will remain. My solution was to first get a damp microfiber to remove most of the stuff, then spray 'Fabreze' a couple of times to neutralize the bad odor. After an hour of airing them out, they were ready to be reinstalled in the car. Much easier to remove sunvisors first folks. Hope this helps.

That's cheesy man . And the smell???
Remove the darn visors and do it right buddy. Mine are like they were never there. Finallly got the hang of it; you need to keep rubbing 'Goof Off' in the direction of the fabric's 'grain' until it's all gone. I failed to do that before on my other cars (for fear of discoloring the visors), and you could see the 'shadow' of the decal under certain lighting conditions. Not on this car; perfect job. And no, I didn't put the visors back in until they didn't smell at all.
