Rant: Parking Tickets in Toronto
Is it just me or do BMWs get more parking tickets than others. Fuck it I paid $100 last month while parked in my neighborhood (yonge & st claire) while all the other cars around me got nothing.
Dammit that's a $40 tuna sub and a $60 grande bold !!!

what!?? usually in montreal they'd pursue you anyway and bring you down to court if you dont pay... didnt think they'd let you go so easily.

well but i really never went to court once all these years...
i heard once that the Courts here in Toronto are so congested that they don't give a damn about $30 parking tickets... probably a different story if you get a ticket for parking at the handicap spot which cost you like $300.. |

Is there a reason why you are getting tickets? Parking illegally? Forgot to feel the meter...etc?

What he said. Do a google search and you'll find a myriad of articles confirming that if you fight a parket ticket, you will unlikely ever see a trial and accordingly, you won't have to pay the ticket. Courts in Toronto are so backlogged that parking tickets are the lowest priority. It doesn't make sense to pay any parking ticket. Fight them all.

In the last few months we've got ticketed on an EL, Lexus, and on both the Bimmers. Doesn't matter what car you have you gonna get ticketed for the smallest thing. David Miller needs to get PAID! and that's just the way it is.

When I get ticketed, I simply renew my license stickers for the maximum amount of time. The fuckin city won't see that money for 2+ years.

I once had a van with our company name and address on the side, so it was obvious that the van was from out of town. This was just an open invitation for a ticket even when I didn't deserve it. It cost far less to just pay the ticket than to go back to Toronto a second time (and probably get another ticket) to fight it. So I very seldom go to downtown TO.
It boggles my mind that the Tourism Dept. will spend megabucks of taxpayers money to bring in visitors, and then the parking dept will screw tourists at every opportunity. The parking dept is running an extortion racket, but the city is only shooting itself in the foot. |
