What tint to get? Headlight protector?

I'm taking my Montego Blue E90 to Driven Dynamics tomorrow morning to get the windows tinted. Anyone have any opinions on which tint and what light transmission level is good? I don't want to go super dark, just want something darker than stock to keep the black leather interior cool (and a bit for the looks factor; although I almost never mod a car for looks.)

I also want to protect the headlight lenses from pitting and hazing. DD offers an overlay for $69 that I am thinking about while I'm there. For those who have applied something to protect your hedlights, what have you used, how do you like it and what was the cost. DIY is fine (maybe even preferred.)

TIA,

Mike

5% is way too dark. Factory is close to 35%. Many who like the tint look go to the 20% which, next to factory doesn't really show any different.

$69 installed for headlights? Do it. I purchased from HeadlightArmor.com and did myself for $79. I am NOT a professional and it shows.

i dont believe the factory tint is 35%; i think its a lot lighter than that, probably something like 75%. MD law is 35% which is what i have and with black interior it looks alot darker.

Go 20% max or you'll be harassed non stop. Even with 20% you may get pulled over like me Go to WinnersTint in Bethesda if you get a chance. Not the cheapest but you get what you pay for.

This is what 20 looks like... remember my interior is tan so if you have black interior it will look even darker.

Thumbs up

Art at Driven Dynamics was vey helpful and did a great job of applying a 35% non-metalized tint on my baby. Now the car looks like it should. From not really having (non-factory) tinted windows before, one unexpected (good) thing I noticed is the windows look much darker from the outside looking in than the inside looking out. That'll be good driving at night.

I got the headlight tint from Bimmian.com and installed it myself. Cost $52 plus shipping and if you take your time it isn't hard to do. If this place does it for you and gives you some kind of warranty that may be the way to go though.
