Red face Rev limiter in 325 (EU spec) and engine response

Hi all

has anyone ever triggered the Rev limiter and if so at what rpm?
Also, any light warning showing up?

Incidentally, I may be wrong as this is my first in line six , but I have the feeling that the engine although silk smooth is a bit "lazy" in getting up even using the Shell V-power 100 otc.
My previous e46 318 2.0L engine felt faster in revving ... I suspect this may be due to the (way) longer gear ratio of the e90.

ad limiter: yes, I've accidentally hit the limiter during overtaking. It actualy was my very first overtaking. I was on the second gear at 5000 rpm and stepped on it. It revved so fast that before I realized I have to change the gear, it hit the limiter at 7000 and something. There was no warning, it just stops pulling.

ad "lazyness" - no, it's definitely not lazy, but you have to have revs over 4000. and you're right, gears are very long. you can go over 100 kph at 2nd gear.

I dunno if there's a difference between EU and NA trannies... but even on the US 325 (3.0L) it feels that way. So I'm thinking it's the gearing. 1st and 2nd are very long (for my taste), but probably that long for smoothness/luxury. 3/4 are much better --haven't pulled that hard in 5th yet, and 6th obviously only sees cruising action.

Mine hits rev limit at around 7200-7500 RPM (not sure cuz i'm not looking at the tach when i'm trying to pass)... what's different about this car is that in other cars, the fuel cuts, and you get some crazy vibrations and what feels like blips in the throttle response as it dips below and comes back up to the rev limit. In the E90 however, it hits the limit and seems to hang there, not cutting fuel --probably possible cuz the throttle is electronic?
