Passed smog in Orange county!

Recently relocated from the east coast. In order to register the car in CA I had to get a smog inspection. So I had to put the secondary cats back on which involved modifying the UR exhaust (thanks to Mr. 5 for the cats and the referral) and making sure my O2 sims (I also have UR catted downpipes) wouldn't throw any codes. A little history...about a month after I put the UR downpipes on I started getting the cat inefficiency code. So I did the DIY O2 sim with a 2.2K resistor which worked fine for about 4-5 months. Then I started getting the lean codes which meant that the sim was reducing the signal too much. So I reduced the resistor to 1K around Christmas time and everything has been fine for the past two months. I took the car in today and passed both the OBDII scan and the sniff test. For everyone who has sims you can be confident on passing when the time comes.

Gee, in my Orange county, there is no inspection whatsoever, let alone emissions. You pass with open headers. Enjoy the liberal facism.

Must be nice. BTW, I have Procede V3 Rev 1 but I left it in valet mode for the test.

Thanks! I was a little nervous since I got turned away last week because I had DCIs on. I have to say driving around with the stock airbox feels pretty good. I may leave it on. The only thing that I really notice is the lack of the sucking sound.

Haha I love it. But it's really not about liberalism - just greedy ass bureaucrats looking to fleece the taxpayer with anything that raises the government coffers.

The best one are the tolls to pay for a bridge that are supposed to be temporary but end up lasting in perpetuity.

Well, how else are we supposed to finance all the bribes to all the agency staff and their cronies?

That's great news. I'm sure you're glad that headache is over with. I am waiting to hear about the first crop of members that attempt to pass emissions in CA with stock DPs but cat back exhausts (secondaries removed). There are a lot of members running this setup but the time frame hasn't been long enough for them to require emissions testing. So, somebody moving to CA with that setup could provide helpful information.

personally if it were me.. if i had that setup.. i'd just throw the stock exhaust back on for the secondaries.... an hours worth of work, (jacking, 4 bolts, a couple hangers) ... .. why risk it .. it would fail visual if they look...

as it is... it is nice to hear that aftermarket catted DPs worked... although I have Riss catted DPs, that throw 420 and 430 codes that the stock ones never did.... and i hear most other aftermarket catted DPs don't either.. so i really wonder if the cats in the Riss pipes are worth a crap...

hopefully those with the factory secondary cats will do well for me in a couple years...

I doubt anyone would pass with the secondaries removed. I think they make the biggest difference. My exhaust used to smell pretty bad before I put them back on.

Anyone else find it ironic that this comment is coming from the state most likely to be F%&%ed by global warming?

Thanks for the feedback...I was debating whether or not to get catless back exhaust with my stock DPs.

If I had it to do over again I would just get a true cat back exhaust and leave the downpipes and secondaries in place.
