"ADD 1L" warning for the 2nd time within 14000kms

About 2.5 months ago when i had roughly 8000kms on my 08 M3, I had this "add 1L" warning and I did what it said. Now, I have roughly 14000kms and the "add 1L" warning is up again today; therefore, I add 1L oil as it requires. I am just wondering if this is normal. I have been watching the car closely for a while now and I didn't find any oil leak or anything. However, I recognized that it became smoother to drive after I dump in that 1L of motor oil.

As of now, I am still debating if I should do an oil change ahead of schedule. My indicator tells me that I need to go for a service at 25000kms. That is a 23000kms gap since my 2000kms service was done a month after I bought the car.

This is my first bimmer and those cars I owned in the past usually require services every 6000kms or 8000kms. I just wonder if I should pay for the oil change myself and get it done every 8000kms or 10000kms.

Is anybody experiencing the same thing?

My car has 8000 miles and has needed a quart twice in that time.

I needed to put 1L in at 2300 miles, about 1100 miles after my break-in oil change...

My, what big letters you have...

Frequency: The dealer will do a BMW-funded oil change (called a "low mileage oil change") every year on your car. You should have them change the oil at least annually. Otherwise, let the oil life monitor tell you when to change - the sump holds 8.8 liters - more than double most cars - so the oil will last a long time.

Consumption: The "M" engines have higher consumption than normal engines - they vary from a liter every 1000km to virtually none between changes. Yours, at one liter for 6,000km is actually pretty good. Add a liter of oil when it asks and don't worry about it.
