2009 328i Speaker Locations/Specifications
Anybody know where I can get a diagram or a spec sheet of the radio in the 09 328i? I had an 06 330xi with the Logic 7 and darn if this 09 standard radio doesn't sound the same. I have yet to hear any distortion after turning the sound way up including heavy bass. I just need to know if they made any enhancements. The sales agent said that they rearranged some speaker placements to help enhance the sound. I thought I would miss my Logic 7 after my wife prodded me to get the current car without it. But, I can't say I miss it at all. The stock radio performs very well. I'm not sure if they increased the size of the woofers or added tubes. But the bass is as strong as the Logic 7. Midrange is clear as well as the highs. I listen to all forms of music from hip hop, to jazz, blues, pop, and classical and have yet to be disappointed.

Sorry, but your ears may be fried if you cannot detect a difference between the two . What you're saying is the equivalent of saying: I used to have an M3 and now I have a 325 and the 325 accelerates as hard and handles as well as the M3. The L7 uses superior processing, has superior speakers, more speakers (13 total), more power and larger woofers. The L7 system is much, much better than the standard system. Did you ever set the EQ correctly in the '06 ??? Did you have L7 turned on at all? If you didn't, the system may not have sounded as good as it could have. If you did, you may have to get your ears checked after all
Regarding the specs, there are some comparison charts I have seen on this forum, just search and you will find. |

If your '09 is an E90, you have 4" speakers in your doors, with 1" tweeters by the mirrors. There are 8" subs under your two front seats, and two more 4" inch speakers in your rear deck. This I know, because this is what I just removed from mine. I can't tell you if there are any differences for the E91/E92/or E93. Hope this helps.

I am a professional musician, and audiophile. I can tell you truthfully that there is a difference in sound, but it's more in processing... and less in actual "movement of air". I can see how the average listener would hear little actual difference.
I have the standard system in my E90 also, and I don't regret not getting the L7. If I were to upgrade, it would be to an external amp powering SW-8s, 4 inch Morel Dotechs in the doors, and maybe upgraded tweeters... you would definitely hear the difference then. |
