NO, NO, NO and NO
This is the exact location one would place their dry ice... . ..SO.. . when you first put the top down.. the puffy white smoke oozes from the cabin cascading over Deep Sea Blue Z4 doors... . .. and as a result, the crowd begins to worship you, as if you were from another planet.. without hesitation, you assume the title of the "Z4 God"

No, both sides.
In the German catalog it is called "Knieausströmer" which could be translated "knee exhaust". Check out the English catalog (even the very first version) where you can see the complete interior design. You can clearly spot that there are ventilation exhausts on both sides (driver and passenger). |

I assume that this would be the natural usage for this feature! |

Well, it's what they call it in the German catalog. I am also not sure on the exact reason for it.
I can only assume that they know what they are doing and that it is part of their overall heating/cooling concept. Nevertheless, it is what it is: an exhaust of the ventilation system |

If I install a multi-tab for 2 USB's in the USB-connection in the glove box, would it be possible to connect a USB-stick with music to it?

First: The USB connection in the glove box is only for transferring files onto the hard disk of the iDrive system (multimedia and routes). You cannot play files from the USB port in the glove box! Second: If you order the additional USB option in the center console you can connect as many USB sticks as you like to it but only one at a time. The system will keep a catalog of up to 4 sticks to permit convenient access to all files and playlists (search by title, artist, genre, etc.) I played with the system in a E90 which I had for a week-end. If you want to know more, just let me know. In any case, installing a USB hub won't help at all and is completely useless. For playing files from a USB stick you need the optional USB package in your car (with the USB port in the center console) |

That dashboard & steering wheel are busier than a 3-legged cat trying to bury turds on a frozen pond. Do we really need TEN buttons/levers on the steering wheel? The once simple Z car has turned into a Fisher-Price menagerie of buttons, nobs, levers and over-wraught electronics, with bloated weight & bloated price tag to match.

The item in question is the "knee exhaust". The cup holder attachment is close but not at this location. |
