I don't know what's worse, buying a 5 year old design from holden or making a car for no appealing market.

It's DOA. GM killed it before it even began shipping.

The problem with the SSR was that it was expensive and initially underpowered( it was originally powered by the 5.3 V8 then a year later gained the LS2). When the SSR was in concept form, the public did say build it.

bHd, did you mean the Monaro based GTO by the 5 year old design?

Yes, that is definitely cool.

But the utes are actually pretty cool cars, and they have a huge market down under. But, they just don't make sense here.

What killed the SSR was the fact that it was so impractical and, at the same time, heavy as hell using a truck ladder frame.... Didn't they also only come in auto IIRC?
