545i w/ sports package = multiple cracked rims?

I forgot that there was a 5post.com...I posted this following question on the 3 series forum...its more appropriate for this audience

My 545i with sports package has had 2 cracked rims in the past 2 months. My wheels keep getting hair line fractures on the inside edge that span maybe 1 inch…jus enough for air to slowly leak out. Fortunately I know of a place that repairs cracked rims for $100 bucks. Can you guys tell me if I’m just a bad/rough driver or are these wheels just weak and BMW should use stronger materials because you have had the same issue?

This is quite common. I have had the same issue and have had them repaired. Be prepared, as it may happen again from what I am told. I believe the later version of this wheel was re-designed and seems to be more forgiving. There is another thread that discusses this in more detail. But dont worry my friend, your not alone.

i feel your pain im going through these issues right now and its starting to weigh heavy on my pockets as i have had to change tires and repaire my rims

I had a cracked rim also on my '04 545 and they couldn't repair it...found a refurbished rim for $185 and was good to go.
