Question Body Side Moldings?

I noticed our E90's do not come with body side moldings...nor can it be purchased as an accessory thru the Dealer. Does anyone know if these are Build-In now? Hate the door dings

As of now you are SOL. You'd think they could follow Acura's lead with the TL, but then again, they're about worthless with all the SUV's around.

True. The only ding I ever got on my previous Passat was from some dizzy bitch in a Jeep Cheroke that parked next to me at work. Put a nice ding very high up on the door. I would prefer those bouncy panels instead.

The moldings are available. You need a stripe and trim professional to get them for you. I just had them added to my E93. They are colored keyed. They don't really hurt the looks that much. The specified mounting point was too high so we played with it.

it's dirty but here you go

the instructions called for them to be 2 inches higher. That looked really bad. I had him install them lower. It's not great looking but it will protect the car.

having rude people chip and dent my doors is an unfortunate problem. What's worse?

Paintless dent repair is the way to go! Or, consider adding curb feelers, fender guards (be sure to get them in chrome) and dont forget door reflectors with the rubber padding so when you open YOUR door you dent the other guy but your car is safe!

Seriously, I know this is subjective but those are ugly!

BTW, if they called for being 2 inches higher Im assuming they they mean for you to put them on the most exposed part of the door. So, I would be willing to bet that they wont do much good. Plus, from what I have found, my door dings come from dumb ass kids who get out of the back door and dont give a $hit about the car next to them (or their mommys SUV) and NO door guard will protect against that kind of ding.

They still protect the car quite nicely. I would much rather have the moldings replaced or refinished than repaint the door.
