Rolling Door Locks

I contacted my dealer about having my 06 E90 330i programmed with rolling door locks. He told me $60.00. Our Mini Cooper came with them and you can turn them off. Do I really need to take it to the dealer, or can I do it myself? Thanks in advance for your help guys!!! (no idrive)

Do you mean locks that lock upon the car setting off? If so, I did following the directions in the manual. It may be different on your car though, but I would assume you wouldn't need dealer involvement.

You shouldn't need the dealer to configure this

+1. You shouldn't need your dealer for this.

unless he has a Pre-September 2005 car, then yes the dealership will have to do it for him/her.

yeah you do. this feature does not exist in US-spec cars due to some kind of stupid safety regulations.

i know EAS sells a $200 part to take care of that. But EAS thing also give you ability to close windows and sunroof with your key

Those are different features than what the OP is asking here. The OP is asking for the automatic door lock that occurs when the car's moving, which on post-September 2005 build cars can be turned on/off by owners themselve.

same here, I disabled it after having to pull the door handle twice to get out. I was used to it for the first few weeks of ownership but then got tired of it and decided to turn it off.

That's great. I said Pre-September 2005; nov. 2005 is post-September 2005.

Ah. Didn't know that about Pre Sept 2005 builds. Learned something new today on this board, which is kind of a rarity these days.

Other pre/post September 2005 differences include the availability of comfort access and thumbrests on the ZSP steering wheel.

For a more thorough discussion, look here

so that once again brings up the question of cars that were actually BUILT in September as opposed to pre- and post-September

Good question. I would guess a september build probably falls into the "post" sept builds. I guess the only way to really know is to find someone with a Sept 2005 build.

haha, I know, I saw your argument in the old thread
Maybe for built-in-September cars, it's a crapshoot, you get a mixture of functionalities. Or half of everything like 1 thumbrest instead of 2 and CA on the right side of the car and not the other.
