HELP..E90 Gearbox light on

Gearbox light<Yellow> of my 08 E90 320i was on suddenly. My car only run 7,000km. The problem disappear after I restart the car. I hv sent to back to BMW, the could find the light had on but no any reason can be found. So far, the light doesn't on. But I was scared that when the light will be on again. Coz It will be danger especially on the highway. BMW told me they require me to send the car back and reprogram the gearbox computer.
Does anyone got the same problem?

Looks like limp mode on the transmission. To protect itself, it only shifts to lower gears. This happened to me in my e36..when I turned the car off and restarted it the fault cleared. It was fixed when the dealer reprogrammed the TCU(transmission control unit). The light can also be caused by other faults, low transmission fluid. Hope this helps.

Tks man!
BMW had checked the transimmion oil level, and it's normal. BMW is now asking me to send to car to reprogram it. I hope it works.
Actually, I just worried about it will be the problem of my gearbox computer.Afterall, it is very abnormal to happen in such new car.

Hey! BMW finally checked the problem!
It was the problem of crankshaft sensor. They will replace for me.
But anyone know what's crankshaft sensor?

Crank sensor?!

I'm no mechanic or expert but isn't the crankshaft in the actual engine housing?

You'd think it would be the actual gear fluid sensors. Oh well, I suppose the main thing is they found it!
