Goofiest question ever....

So, I have CA, but have used it ONCE I think to actually start the car. (I don't use it because the first time I did, I lost the key! So, now I always know where it is.)

Anyway, I was moving my car the other day and decided not to put the fob in the slot. So after I turned the car off the radio was still on. Usually, I put the car in park, hit the start/stop button, and then pop the key out - that's when the radio goes off.

Does it just go off by itself or what?

with CA, you have to hit the buton twice to turn it all off

Or press it once and hold it for a couple of seconds...

Or leave the car, close the door, touch the door handle ridges to lock the door.

This is best - it is great to have CA.

And if (for whatever reason) you don't lock the doors with the handle, the radio does go off after 20 minutes or so.

I always hold the button to shut it off completely. I don't trust only pressing it once then getting out and locking the doors as it left the electronics in my car running one time and I had a dead battery later than day. Mind you this happened when my car was only a few weeks old.

Especially the 90% of the time it actually works. I love the CA, but really wish BMW had done a little more to make sure it worked more effectively

Or push the lock button once you leave. I like this method as I know I locked it as I can hear the radio stop playing.
