car accident.. with a pic! LOL

Today some lady hit my car during rush hour. She wasn’t paying attention when everyone was slowing down. Back bumper is trashed... car only 3 months old she admitted fault and said she was playing with her radio. . She was very nice so I was very polite to her.. she wanted to wait in her car on the side of the freeway while i made a claim and took pics and I told her you should wait with me because someone can sideswipe you and get you very hurt. She seemed very happy when I told her that, maybe because I actually cared about another human?lol. so she got out of her car and waited on the side with me. I also asked if she needed a ride anywhere because her car wouldn't start. She said thank you but her cousin is coming by to pick her up. When I even left she said bye. But anywats back to the main point.... I was wondering how exactly I end up getting an mtech bumper. Will it be fine if my vehicle is a lease? I’m going to 3 different body shops and asking for estimates Friday. Also do I pay out of pocket for the mtech bumper or can I have a choice if they are the same price as OEM? Also I circled something on the bottom, that black thing is all bent..... Is the whole bottom one piece. Because I noticed that black thing covers the whole bottom of the car.
Thanks!

It's a lease car so you will have to return it at the condition you brought it (i.e. original bumper) unless you are planning to buy it. I won't waste any money on a lease car.
not true if the bumper is an OEM product. same goes for wheels, steering wheel, shift knob, etc.

plus, you can order the bumper from Tischer for less than stock would cot you at any dealership...

IDon’t want to order anything because it’s going through insurance. Can I just tell the body shop instead of the OEM I want the OEM Mtech? Can they do it for the same price? Because the insurance company won't say "Okay we will pay for the mtech"

no because the mtech is more than the OEM bumper, so anything more than the original bumper will be you paying out of pocket.

Okay thanks, I will check with the body shop about the price difference. If it’s only like a hundred or two extra I will get it.

get the estimate from the high end shops and tell her insurance company to cut you a check for the damages instead of paying the shops directly...this way you can use that money to buy whatever bumper you want and have a shop that quotes a much lower price make the repairs...upgraded parts and money in your pocket after its all said and done

Be sure to hit them with depriciation compensation for having an accident on the cars record now.

I know a lot of early to mid 40-year olds that are hot and I'm no senior citizen.

Kudos to the OP for being nice and civil to the lady.

LOL i wish i could say the same about when i was rear ended. it turned out to be nothing more than scratched paint, as she barely bumped me. but i thought i was going to have a heart attack during the moments leading up to the accident, watching her try to slow down (although not nearly fast enough) in my rear view. then i thought i would have another heart attack during the moments leading up to me actually looking at the damage. needless to say, i was a real asshole to this lady until i actually saw that the damage wasn't that bad.

oh well...i kinda feel bad about the way i initially reacted...then again, i'm the kind of guy who parks out in the middle of nowhere just to avoid as many assholes in the parking lot as possible.

Thanks! It seems like to much work lol. Also its a lease so I think I will just put the standard bumper back on....do I just ask for deprecation compensation and they will give me money?.....but anyways, say hello to a beautiful corolla as a rental car for 3 weeks! loll

unfortunately it rarely happens that way...

most insurance companies don't simply rely on the victim to get a fair quote for repairing the damage - hence the reason most of them send out an adjuster after you get back to them with the quote. 99 times out of 100 they'll adjust the quote down in price and communicate directly with the body shop you plan on using in order to reach a middle ground (somewhere between the $ amount the victim was quoted and whatever the insurance company deems a fair $ value for the repair).

...of course that's not to say it isn't worth a try...obviously some folks have gotten away with it in the past.

I have done this in the past but I have always been with USAA for insurance so unless this woman has USAA I doubt your experience will be as smooth. Being a lease I would just try to get everything back to normal and call BMW to see if there will be any fee associated with the car having an accident on its record at turn in.

For future reference, in your car with the seatbelt on and the hazard light flashing is the safest place to be if you're on the side of the highway. Not standing on the side of the road.

Sorry about your car.
