Thinking of E93 next ride. Owners opinions?
Hi guys-
Lease coming up this summer. Love convertibles. I've got kids, but my car has never been the kid car. Wife has a 5. My current thinking is an '09 335i. I'm very curious how some of you convertible owners deal with having a strictly 4 seat option and if it's a huge pain. Most of the time I'm alone, or moving 1 or 2 kids to school in the morning. Ages 10-12. I'd totally LOVE an E93. But my "dad" brain is saying SUV. Screw that shit. Can a dad with a few kids manage with an E93 ok? I know, dumb. Sorry if this post is totally stupid. thanks A

do it, youll be the coolest dad ever. lol. with 2 kids the only car i would consider impractical would be impractical for someone with even one kid and that would be a 2-seater. look at an e93 and/or some CPO 650 verts.

go for it dude, you will LOVE this thing....LOVE it.....and to be honest there's a decent amount of room in the back, for 2 adults. It's a bit tough for them to get in and out of it, but once they're in, they're actually comfortable and have decent legroom. DO IT MAN!!!!! I don't regret getting the convertible at all. I CRAVE nice weather so I can put the top down. do it and thank us all later.

Maybe you should ask Montegogogogogogogo about her thoughts on the E93....
Looks to me that those things are going to end up costing more to fix after 100k miles than they'll be worth. That hardtop is scary to me. |

Go for it! You'll love it and your kids will love you for it!
The car is very comfortable for 2 adults and 2 kids in the back. Hell, even with adults in the back seat they very rarely complain. It's very rare that I have adults in the backseat though, but my 10 year old loves it and so do her friends and my little cousins. She swears she's getting the car when she can drive. The best part is the E93 has forced my girl to learn to live out of one carry-on and a small make up bag for up to a week since that's all she can fit in the trunk along with my carry-on and the top down, which is more than enough for the 10 year old, myself, and then some. You will want to use it for some road trips. |

I don't have the vert, just the coupe. The kids love it. But as you said, it won't be the main vehicle anyways. The main kid car is the suv, and the coupe is the occasional kid car....

I told my "dad brain" to blow me and got one. Best decision I have ever made. I can't say enough about this car. It is sex to drive. Pure sex.

I don't have kids but I REALLY love my 335 'vert. I get gushing compliments from strangers on a regualar basis and I've had zero problems after 14 months and 15000 miles. It goes into the shop for its first service tomorrow.

OK, actually test drove one today for the first time. LOVE. Jesus man, I wish BMW made a woman. OK, that was dumb. I love my wife and all that but DAMN. That was fun. Brought my 10 year old number one son. We both laughed liked little kids playing with this car. It's just such a blast. The sound of the engine was phenomenal. The acceleration is totally addicting. I WILL GET A TICKET SOON AFTER BUYING THIS CAR. I don't care.
Decision made. It's going to be an E93. I'm thinking silver with red leather. Or Black with red leather. Or red with red leather. Got to have the red leather. Not sure about the exterior yet. Thanks all. Alec

Good choice bro. E93 ftw! There's nothing more fun than putting the top down and going cruising in this car.

I personally think that the BMW E93 is overpriced; the moonroof is personally enough for me in my E90. I would just suggest waiting a little longer and buying it used if you really want it. Hardtop convertibles are relatively new (2007 I think) and should fall in price soon.

OP! E93 ftw~ I'm 6'0" and my brother is 6'1" if the seat is pushed up just a bit, I can still drive and he can sit in the back seat....behind me. The e93 has plenty of backseat room while it isn't exactly practical, it is a fun car!
GO with the coral red interior, I never even thought twice about it! |

It is a blast to drive and the hard top gives you the best of both worlds. Don't forget to get satellite prep delete if you aren't getting satellite radio to not have the ugly little nub on your rear decklid. |

Vert is bossy, don't get me wrong.
I was all set on ordering one on Friday, but damn! Take a look at the trunk space and it will turn you off big time. No room. |

BTW, don't count out AW, as it shows the car's lines very well. Some photos: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=186382 Plenty of trunk space when the top is up. Even enough for 4 duffel bags when the top is down; did ED in an E93 with 4 adults and 4 duffel bags, No Problem

Do it. I was not a convertible guy until I test drove the E92 and E93 back to back. The rest is history.

Interesting to see the reactions different buyers have. I was all eager to buy the vert and drove the 328 and 335. Also drove the E92s. Ended up choosing the E92. Several factors that led me to that choice, complex top mechanism, roof cut lines and trunk space.
