Engine running hot on track??

A few things after the first track day with the stock e92 M3 6MT.

First of all, I am not one of the forum members who would not lay any criticism on a BMW. And earlier I was afraid that the M3 will not deliver as much as I hoped for and would turn out more of a poser than the real thing.
Well, I could not be happier after the first track day!! The difference between my chipped Audi A4 and the M3 is HUGE. Those of you who did not take the car to the track really should. The M3 is way better on the track than on the road. It is really made for the track, at least way more than for everyday commuting.
I dont want to get into too much details but here are a few observation.
1. Tires and breaks are the main limiting factor on the track. On Mid-America Motorplex circuit power was none issue.
So will change pads, break fluids, and get R-rated tires.
2. Car was running hot. On street the temp gauge is always in the middle or below at 200-210F on track 250F. (lots of slow corners in 2 and 3 gear with high (over 7000 rpm) Maybe my car is just too new having only 1500miles.
I will continue!!
Any thought on engine temp??

That's normal I feel my E46 ran higher temps than the V8 and they are both fine

As I felt with both cars, great to have and own for the day to day but until you get it out on the track you learn to really love the car

Thanks,

The next are tires!! I wanted to have Lucid's setup 265/35 front and 285/30 back on 18'' wheels but The Advan RS does not come larger than 18x9,5 (not enough for 285/30) the Volk te37 just too expensive. So I go with the TRMotorsport 18x8,5 and 18x10 wheels with 245/40 and 275/35 BFG-R1.

I wouldn't go that much staggered. You will probably get too much understeer but of course balance is a matter of taste and personal preference. Your temps are normal.

if you plan on tracking the car and want to buy rims for the purpose instead of just for show, get square setup. It will eliminate the understeer that the car has and give you a lot more "bite" turning in.
however that's just my .02

I have not tracked my car yet, but tend to agree with the above. TMS has a deal on rim and tire set up which appears to be pretty good. ForgeLine 18x10 with 4 BFG R1 275/35/18, mounted and bal. I don't know if they are heat cycled or not, but worth looking into. There are benefits to having the square set up, but Lucids set up appears to be good also.

Ref temp - does not appear to be abnormal, but I would continue to monitor it. BMWs do not like to get hot.
