Bmw X3 Max Rim Size

Hi Everyone,

I Am looking at OEM star BMW rims for my 2005 X3 2.5i. They are 19x9" and the tires i would be putting on are 245/45/19 Falken FK-452 (from a friend).
-----Stock equipment is 235/55/17 tires and 17 x 8" rims-----

I was told that they might rub on the frame by the dealer. They recommend 19 x 8.5" front and 19x9" back

Does the 1/4 inch really matter with the front tire?

Would this be a safe move installing the rims?

Thanks,

Robert

Based on my old wheel setup the new setup will have 13mm LESS clearance on the strut side, and the outside edge of the wheel will EXTEND an extra 13mm.

Are these acceptable? Anyone have any idea?

Thanks,

Robert

Hmmm I'd like an answer to that question too!

Bigger X3 wheels

Try this link http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg2.html

This article is great for understanding the bigger wheels and tyres conundrum.

It's not just a question of bigger wheels and tyres but you need to know the original wheel offset for the vehicle as designed by the OEM. This will govern if the wheel sticks out more or into the wheel arch more and catch on the arch/suspension/steering geometry.

There is a calculator within the website to assist on all aspects of tyre wheel combinations

Hope this helps. Read the part about inflating your tyres to a higher pressure, it is especially interesting. I now inflate my 235/50/18 in tyres to 36 psi from
31 and have increased my fuel consumption from 27 to 30 mpg around town driving.

I have seen 22's on a x3 with 265-35-22 little rub in front when turning.
Not my x but have seen it in person.
