Is this turbo lag I'm experiencing?
335i Sedan 6MT
Recently installed JB+ Just want to know if what I'm experiencing is turbo lag. One of my buddies thought it was the clutch slipping at first. Feel it most in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. With the RPM's around 2800 or so, full throttle...the RPM climbs pretty fast (about 1K RPM), then drops a couple hundred and then the power comes on strong. Car seems to "shiver" with the initial climb. Almost feels like slippage, which is why my buddy thought it was the clutch going. I searched and I'm STILL reading the 29.2 lag thread, but couldn't really find too much on the symptoms. Is THIS turbo lag? |

Crap.
I was afraid of that. Previous owner must have been a shitty 6MT driver. What would really suck is if I replace the clutch and experience the same prob. Think I can get the clutch replaced under warranty? |

when you are going like 20mph, put it into 6th and floor it. If it goes to redline and the car does't accell then its your clutch. Sounds like a fuel pump to me though.

If the clutch was slipping I would think that the rpm's would climb higher without the car pulling along.
You say they drop, so it sounds like something else is going on. You should give Terry a shout to troubleshoot. PS...you wouldn't be the first to get several fuel pumps in a row. |

I'd say it's the clutch. Had this on my E46 320d at 80k kms.

Could be clutch or Fuel Pump. Any way to get it scanned to see if there are any fuel pump codes?
I would to that 5th/6th gear at 20MPH and floor it to test for clutch slippage. Mike |
