Proper Break-in Procedures

Can someone please guide me to a document or a thread in this forums for 128i break in period rules? I searched but couldn't find anything on the forums.

Thanks!

Dealership informed me that there is no break in period. Strange but if the car breaks its covered by warranty

When I first obtained my 128i I had no choice but to drive on the autobahn the first 100+ miles... varied my speeds tho... 70mph-90mph.... never breaking any of the limits written in the owners manual... I have 15k+ miles on my vehicle and it drives like the day I picked it up and my 128i has not burned up any oil from day 1

Basically 1200 miles in city driving should suffice it...with occasional highway miles.. super. thanks!

These days, engines components are cut with such precision that the break-in period has become quite relaxed. Even if you pushed it to the limit occasionally during the break-in, you probably wouldn't do much to hurt your car. I plan on sticking to the recommended procedures (especially for tires and brakes).

I have been trying hardly to keep the car under 4.5k rpm, but man... at around 3.5k I can reaaally feel the car pull and sometimes I forget to change gears

One of the techs at the dealership told me they recommended I follow the basic break-in procedures from the manual (about 2000km under 160km/h and 4000 rpm). If you exceed those limits a couple of times it won't make a big difference, but if a tech tells me to do it I'm going to listen.

I know what you mean. I hit 2000km this week and decided to up the stakes... first gear to around 6k, second gear to around 5k, I was at 90km/h already. Insane acceleration, it was such a pleasant surprise after keeping it under 4k the past month!
