What car should I get?
Hey, right now I drive an 06 330xi but I'm looking to get rid of it. Right now I'm looking between an 07 335 (maybe convertable) or a 05-06 M3. Which do you think I should get?

What can you afford? (i.e - What is your budget?)

05/06 M3 is great, but if you've ever sat in an E46 after being in an E90, you'll really notice that you're driving in a previous-generation car. It just has that...outdated look to it. I don't like the interior nearly as much, but in terms of driving feel and such, it was just as quick, sporty, and great steering feel as the E90. Aesthetics aside (call me picky), it's a damn awesome car and is ridiculously fun to drive. Isn't that why we all buy BMWs?

The M is the better track car for sure (LSD, S54 engine is great), and with a SC kit, you can blow by any tuned 335i.
But it depends on what you're looking for. The 335i is a great daily driver + grocery getter, with some power. The M car doesn't really shine its best until you throw it on a track which 90% of the people on this board don't do (or can't afford to).

If thats the case I would probably go for the 335i. E46 M3's are amazing cars, but with the M3 it's an older car, and you're not gonna have a warranty with the probability of costing you much more to maintain. Can you even buy 07 335's for 29K? (convertible??) I'm sure there's some killer deals out there but damn..... ...But if the 335i is out of warranty with crazy miles I'd watch out for that too. Reliability of 335's are too early to tell. Could end up costing you more than the M3. Good luck hunting, but I'd probably go with a good deal on a 335. (newer car, with a warranty) vs. the M3. |
