Question Homelink help

Well I and had no luck setting up the homelink. Unfortunately I was unable to get passed the first step, which was clearing out the memory. I held the left and right buttons (1&3) for over 20 seconds and the led light never flashed to confirm the memory cleared. Have any of you run across this issue. I recently purchased the car which is a 2007 335i coupe with premium and sport packages and comfort access. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Ken

This may sound stupid, but maybe it was never used so there is nothing to clear out? Tried skipping past that step maybe? Homelink is a pain to setup though.

I tried for an hour straight to set up mine. I found it to be more difficult than taking any finals in college...` I eventually gave up.

Haha yea I tried everything I could think of but no such luck...I thought clearing the codes and being able to see the LED flash would be the easy step, guess not. I even counted to 20 thinking that the LED was out and went along with the other steps and was not successful.

Make sure the ignition is on! Don't ask me why they made it like this but the homelink only works with ignition on or car started.

OP, congrat on your recent purchase and welcome to forum ! You will love the car.
Please use the search function as the topic has been discussed many times. It has been a while since I did it.
I think when it says put in certain inches from the homelink button not always work, you need to try it further and some member tried it from outside the windshield and it worked.
I do remember that I did not do it exactly as the instruction and it worked on the first try.

when all else fails...

Call them at 1-800-355-3515 and they will walk you through it. They helped me program two cars for both a garage and gate and had it done in about 5 minutes. The tech support guy was very patient and knowledgeable.
