A51 Montego Blue paint?

I'm considering picking up an e46 next year and painting it Montego Blue.

As I understand it, A51 is the code for the Montego Blue paint. Where is the best place to buy this, and how much do you think it would cost for all the needed paint?

to do the job is between 2000-5000 depending on how thorough the job is. You sure you wanna do this? is it really worth it to you that much? I think E46 palette has similar colours, why not consider those first? Or at least get a BLUE one to begin with, avoid the whole interior bits respray.

locals will probably tell you where to get the paint from.

Seriously, why not get an E9x? I think Montego is a great color, but it is hard to get a paint job that is on a par with the original factory.

I think you CAN get one that's actually better considering our factory paint is so thin and comes with orange peel. My point was that to get that you will have to pay A LOT. Much easier to get some similar shade of E46 to Montego.

I'm not sure I'd want to, I'm considering it though. The only thing close within the E46 palette would probably be Mystic Blue or Topaz Blue, and those are impossible to find around here.

Plus a Montego Blue (or other custom color) E46 would be unique.

I have an E90 already. The E46 would be to customize/mod if I can get a good deal on one.

How much do you think one like that would cost?

The only way I would consider repainting a car is if insurance was paying for it or it was something truly awesome. If you could have any 10 cars for the rest of your life and this modded E46 of your dreams is on it then go for it, just expect to pay out the ass for a decent paint job. I got quoted $5k for a black paint job at a shop that does nice work, I can only imagine how much more montego would be considering the tiny touch up tube is $20. I expect you would end up paying $7k for something you would be happy with.

It depends on how good of a deal I'd get on the E46.. $5k I could probably do if it was an amazing paint job, anything more than that I seriously doubt it.

Estoril is awesome, but to be honest I like Montego Blue better.

Le Mans Blue is also sweet.

Why go with another boring BMW color if you're going for a full repaint? Oh, and find a smaller independent shop to do it cause chain shops will kill you in cost. Bigger shops will probably charge about $10k for a good job (in door jambs and everything) you can save thousands by finding a small shop but be wary if they quote you too low like $2-3k.

Wouldn't have to be a "boring BMW" color.. But it would have to be a shade of blue. Any suggestions?

Copying is the sincerest form of flattery! Or something like that haha

OP, I think you should do something along the lines of this:

http://174.129.236.184/photos/displa...33974546,1.jpg

With an almost two-tone paint job thats just two hues of blue. I dunno if thats your sort of thing, but it could look cool.

Could use the bright-ass blue Toyota has on their tacomas. That was one of the colors I thought about when I was looking into what color to paint mine. (I also considered tropic orange )

That could be cool, I wonder how much the two hue paint job would cost though.

Example pic? I'm not familiar with their stuff.

I'm just researching possibilities right now. Work is going to be extremely hectic again this summer and on into the fall, and I probably wouldn't want to get anything in the winter. It looks like I'd start seriously looking for an E46 next spring. Thanks for all the info so far, keep em coming.

I'd also consider a color like this:

If anyone in the Northeast/Central PA regions knows of a shop that does good work, either post here or PM me.
