Is it normal to see some dirt particles stuck in the tints?
Hi
I got my windows tinted but noticed that there are few dust particles stuck in my tints on all my doors. Some of them are visible from the outside if you look carefully as well.. I was wondering if it is really hard for these shops to do super-clean tinting jobs or is is normal to see few dirt particles stuck here and there in the tint? Thanks

100% clean no dust particles on the tints is very very difficult to achieve. I came to
that conclusion after I had my tints installed and even though my tint guy was super careful and with great attention to detail as me we managed to find 2 dust particles on the driver's door which can only be seen from the inside and are on the very bottom from side of the window. It doesn't bother me though. If however you have lots of dust particles on all of your windows, I would consider that an average job and not normal. |

Thanks..
I also noticed that one of the windows has a 2-piece tint job done, i.e. the window is tinted using two tint films which are joined together. I can easily the see the joining line from inside of the car and if I look close enough I can see it from outside too.. Is this normal and acceptable for a $450 tint job?

Ask here to see if you're being too picky: http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index.php
Here's a sample thread on the topic: http://www.tintdude.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=52039 $450 tint job mainly reflects the cost of the film. For ceramic film (F1 Pinnacle, Huper Optik), that price sounds about right. I have F1 Pinnacle, and I think it cost around that much. I have only one dust particle I've found under my tint... can't remember where it is, but I know there is one. You wouldn't see it unless you looked for it. Otherwise, my windows are clear. I tinted the car only a few days after delivery, though. It was extremely clean to begin with, and the installers clean the hell out of the windows before they tint. A couple of small dust particles, I wouldn't bother pointing them out. Lots of them, yes, I would ask about them. If the guy is a professional, he cares about the quality of his work and customer satisfaction.

i don't think i have any dust particles in my tints or at least from what i can see. The tint shop i went to basically soaked the windows with whatever they use to clean it like twice and then applied the tint came out super clean.

Is it just me, or does using the word 'tints' in that manner seem weird? I guess its technically correct, since there is more than one window that has tint on it, but it sounds funny to me. Kind of like when my dad adds the extra s and calls it "WalMarts".
And back on topic, I got my windows tinted two weeks ago and I wasn't able to really find any dust or other particles stuck in there.... |

Make sure you go to Tint Protector and get the 3 series kit. If your pissed about some minor things now you will be REALLY PO'd when your tint starts to scratch in a week or so.

It isn't just you. The right way to say it is "tint," but people say "tints" all the time.
