Is anyone bored?

Don't kill me...but is anyone bored of their E90's?

I've had mine for a year now, and although it's an awesome car...it's started to feel to big and almost bland in a way. I don't get excited to drive it anymore and it just feels like a family car to me now.

I want something young, sporty, possibly roof down and most importantly fun. I've loved my E90...but I'm really starting to think it's time to move on?

Am I crazy?

i suggest you spend some money on exhuast or under the hood.....once your E90 sounds different, that will last you another year...

No ... it's just human nature.

Best cure is to drive something else - e.g. a ford or vauxhall.

Then when you get back into your BMW you will love it all over again.

If that fails, then you are going to have to buy a new car.

No, you're not!

Get yourself a Z4M Roadster, and you'll be thrilled again!

Poor mileage though... Better get a 335d!

I will be thrilled in december, when picking up my E91 325d Msport

Hey Broken1 hows it going ? Long time no see ?
This is an amazing coincedence - I was also thinking recently that maybe I don't need a sedan , so this weekend I went to Leo Haese Centurion , where I bought my car from.

I actually went to get brochures on the new coupe , but I spotted a used Z4 there. I took it for a drive and it's awesome !! I'm now seriously thinking of replacing my E90 with a Z4 , although I'm only gonna replace my car in about a years time.

Not yet. Ive only had since May. I usually get a new car every 2 to 3 years though. If you can afford it get another car or add some stuff to this one.

I always get the itch to buy a new car when mine is a year old. I've given into that several times, but it's a poor financial decision. Try taking the E90 for a drive on a great road that you don't normally drive - something with nice hills or twisties.

LedZep is right. Try the following:
1-Debadge
2-Zaino
3-Detail interior or get it detailed
4-Change tires
5-Other simple and/or cheap mods
6-Buy a 15 year-old Civic and thrash the hell out of it on a country road, (then you're realize how great your car is!)
7-buy a used Miata for that Top Down thing

DON'T trade it in unless you're rolling in $$$$! Like Led says, it is a poor financial decision.

The E90 is a car that is easy to get bored with 'cause it is so perfect. Drive it in high revs for a week, the sound alone will get you horny!

No you are not crazy. But no offence, you don't really have an inspiring engine in you car. (320d). I have driven colleagues 320d's and they are like a different car to the 6 cylinder models. Everything feels a little cheaper and lighter due to less soundproofing etc. Even gearshift, dash and trim fittings felt lower quality. They have to make the cost savings somewhere. Look at the price difference between a 320d SE and a 330d SE, I don't think that UK£5000+ comes from just a different engine.

The engine in my 330i is the main part that I love when combined with the handling and performance. You need all 3 to make the most of the car IMO.

But I'm sure I will get a '12 month itch' in time!!

You are right!! My Bad for not realizing that!

Then Broken needs to get a 15 year-old ($500) Civic and thrash the hell out of it...that's the only solution! Running at 100km/h in one of those is like doing 200 km/h in a Bimmer LOL!

Stew, funny you mentioned that! I stopped past a Mazda Dealer to look at a Miata. They have 3rd generation ones, for quite a good price! That's a bit of fun :-)

I don't think I want to sell my E90 though - but I think part of the boredom is that it's diesel. I'm a petrolhead by heart...

Broken, I'm exactly feeling the same thing. I've been feeling bored with my e90 for the last 2 months! I've had the car for almost one year now. I want 335 coupe but scared of getting bored with it even faster, because it's the same interior and that's where we all spend most of the time with. Perhaps the next M3 will cure .

Right now, the only cure for me is to detail the car and enjoy the shine and slickness

For many of us, that itch is getting more and more itchy with the debut of the coupe...

Yeah, that does make it harder... although I still prefer the sedan. I already have my new one ordered in my mind!

I've noticed a lot of people on here recently dumping their e90s in favour of other cars... When I first came across this board in January, everyone talked really enthusiastically about their 3 Series, as if it was the best car ever made, but now everyone's jumping ship.

What's the matter with you all??!!

Having just come back from a 1500km trip to North Wales and about to leave on a 2000km drive to the South of France, I can tell you the e90 is without doubt the best car I have ever driven (and I have driven a lot, including the e39 & e60 M5s, Jaguar XKR, Porsche 911, e46 M3 and Lamborghini Gallardo).

OK, so my remapped 330d can blitz just about anything on the public roads, but it's not just the power; it's the 'feel' of the car, it just feels SO right. It can overtake a line of slow moving vehicles in a split second in perfect safety and still return 42mpg on a long trip. The seats are super comfortable, the aircon has ample power and the roadholding is second to none.

There was a guy in front of us waiting for the cross-Channel ferry at Dover last week in a Z4 with what looked like his g/f. Man, they were SQUASHED!! No room for luggage at all in there and their heads were touching the headliner.

I love my e90 and have no intention of changing it, even for the V8 M3

P.S. my daily driver is a 60hp(!) Fiat Panda, so maybe that's why the 330d continues to feel so special

You need a 60hp Panda!! That's the ticket!

Did you test drive the Miata?

Paul, I know we've heard this "I'm bored" thing before, but who actually dumped their E90s for other cars? I have dumped ON my E90, but see my list above, I get back on board quick enough.

It's tough with a car that is so well built, one gets to thinking that all cars are this well built, and that just ain't so!

My fun begins again when winter arrives and I get to play junior rally driver with my xDrive (and the DSC ON!!)!

You're probably right, but I seem to have seen a lot of posts recently where members are thinking of swapping, or have swapped their e90 for the 335i coupé, the Z4 M Coupé, or strange American/Japanese cars that we don't get here called GSXs or LX5000s.

The e90 is just so superior to the crap that my father owned in the 1970s & 80s that used to rust and refuse to start whenever it dropped below 15°C or when it rained... Why not just be happy with what we've got

Exactly - the guy who did my 330d said he usually gets 205hp & 440Nm with the 320d. I recognise, however, that taking your car to Belgium if you live in S.Africa is not exactly cost effective
