Need tires advice for track

I would like to gain some track experience.
I only have a set of stock 18" wheel and tires, don't want to mess around it.
I consider between two options to get a set of slick tires:
1) a set of slick tires for stock 18" wheel; OR
2) a set of BMW winter tires package, keep winter tires for winter and put slick tires for track driving, 245/40ZR18 for 4 wheel (18X8 stock offset).

Can anyone give me some adivce?

Use the stock tires and rims.

You can use your stock 18's with the the stock tires,but this is the least cost effective way to run on the track.The stock PS2's are expensive to replace and are not very nice as a street tire after being on the track as they will be quite noisy and will not have as much grip after being heat cycled on track.
The best bet is too have a dedicated track setup.I run Toyo R888 in 255/35 18 & 265/35 18 on a set of Beyron Mesh 8.5 18 & 9.5 18.This setup is a little smaller in height than the stock rubber but seems to be an OK setup.If I had known how large the wheelwells were when I got this setup before my car arrived,I would have opted for an 18 x 10 25P all around with either a 265/35 18 or 275 35 18.The 275 is a common size and there are lots of track friendly available for this fitment.The R compound are available for much less than the equivilent normal Z rated tire.I think I paid around $350/tire last year.

Totally correct! I run stock PS2 on my stock 18 rims and have already had to replace all four tires. You go through them quick and they aren't cheap.
