Hi
Yes it will fit a 2006 E90 as long as it has a sports steering wheel with multifunction buttons.

It took me about 10 mins to fit to the E87 that i originally had it on.

You just remove the airbag using a thin screwdriver to unclip the two metal spring clips and then unscrew the trim from behind the wheel (held on with three torx head screws).

There's a thread in the DIY section where other people have done this as part of a steering wheel replacement: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11825.
If you're careful, you don't need to disconnect the airbag, just keep it out of the way. You will need to disconnect the multifunction buttons to move them to the new trim

The airbag just clips back on afterwards.

Cheers

Frankly "if your careful, you don't need to disconnect the airbag". This sentance terrifies me Have you ever had an air bag go off in your face? lmao

Good luck with sale. I'd have it but am too much of a wimp to do the swap lol

Indeed, an additional safety precaution would be to disconnect the battery but as far as i am aware, the occurences of airbags going off spontaneously is fairly low these days.
