I wonder how BMW does those motion shots. I wonder if they are "real" or somehow artfully edited to look like rolling shots. This is harder to do than it seems. To capture the "rolling" motion means that the shutter must stay open, but then any other motion (such as car bouncing or cameraman unsteady) will make the target (the E90) blurred.

They use a rig that attaches to the car with suction cups and many long stabilizing legs. The rig is photshoped out of the photo in post edit. The longer the arms on the rid the clearer the shot will be. Usually the shots are taken at rather low speeds and that is how they can get the cool effects with the wheels turning and the background spinning. A good rig is very expensive and usually has to be built meaning they come is separate individual pieces and you design and engineer your own rid as if you were building a house.

No just need the right lens. Here is an exapmle of a 3 arm rig (the most common).

http://www.pana3ccduser.com/showthread.php?t=7279

Using a rig is the only way to get shots like this

This is about the best you can get without a rig, and I will admit that this shot was all luck. It was 1 out of over 450!
