Idrive Response

I tested out the idrive in an e90 about a month ago and was kinda dissapointed with the response time of the system when selecting with the knob. I later read that there was some software update that eliminated this delay, is this true? if not, is this slow response normal? will there be any other new changes to the nav/idrive in the next software update in sept(besides mp3, which im very excited about!)?

Is anybody else experiencing a lag? I got mine three days ago but my idrive is fairly laggy.

Yes.

Mine's an August '05 build and it has pretty serious lag.

I was unaware there was a software update that fixes this.

I must have missed the post on that.

But I'm sure happy to hear about it now.

The software helps but doesn't totally eliminate the issue

The software update didn't eliminate the issue for me but it isn't that much of a lag and it could be because I have gotten used to it.

The best way is to unlock your doors 5-10 seconds you start the car because I think it helps with loading up the program.

i have bad lag. and i also believe i have the newest software. what is the newest software update now a days the lag sucks. like MAYBE i could understand if our navi had a harddrive that played mp3s off it. played dvd's. had a better navi. then i would deal with it. i want os x in my e90 please.

I've had some minor lag. I was just in the shop last week for something else and got a new software update. Will occasionally have 5-10 sec lag when starting car where i-drive screen is blank. Will also have intermittent lag (2-3 seconds) when using the nav features and (rarely) tuning the radio.

It's kinda something I've gotten used to and isn't a terrible headache, but not something I would expect from a second hand computer, much less a high priced option. That said, I wouldn't trade my I-drive. A slow I-drive is still better than no I-drive.

Mine's slow too. It's the main thing I hate about it :-(
