GIAC Flash: when will stock file be avail?
Spoke to my local shop, we can't put back the car to stock as the stock file is not avail yet. What is the timing? And I assume once the file is ready, we could put the car back to stock mode on our own? Thanks.

Most, if not all, of the stock files should be available. Flashing back to stock should not be an issue. If you know your ECU coding, you can send a PM our way so that we can help you figure it out.

I think the OP means the hand-held unit for switching oneself back to stock. We know GIAC is working on it, but there is no official time table for release yet.

Any 93 octane flash can be flashed by a GIAC dealer back to true stock currently but it requires complete reflash meaning erase the performance file and write the original stock file to the DME. The multi-switching option (which would allow you to switch between 2 or more installed files, performance and stock and perhaps 100 octane race gas) is not yet released and GIAC has not advised us of a firm or tentative release date for that capability though we hope it will be soon. |

From my understanding (limited) . . . you can leave it in because the flash is undetectable by the dealer unless they rip it around the streets.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I'll wait...Imagine HPFP or whatever issue might come up and the car will need to visit stealership and we can't put back in stock mode....kinda risky I guess

this is one of the reasons why piggybacks still have quite a bit of remaining life

Here is what I don't understand. If you throw a visible or hidden code using the flash, from say your fuel pump, won't the code store the actual boost levels you were running? So don't you need a BT cable to run the flash under warranty?
On the plus side, the BT will show your real boost levels so it seems like a great tool to have. |
