JB+ Owners with MDS81 and latest BMW software....

Who's in this category and did you trigger any tuner codes? What is your JB+ set at?

My msport 335 is a July 09 build so i'm assuming I have the latest ecu and software installed on my car. Seems like MDS80 guys with the old software doesn't have any codes with the JB+ where as a few with the MDS81 thrown codes even with the JB+ at default. I'm just curious to know if bmw changed anything in the recent build cars that would cause codes.

There is a lot more effort devoted to piggy/flash detection in the MSD81 and later Progman/ISTA versions. Some of this does not involve throwing codes.

Just use the default setting and you'll be fine on any ECU version!

im around 75% on MDS81, i dont throw codes often at all...the only codes i have thrown are 30FF and i only threw it twice: right after i installed it, and a few times in one day. ive had the jb+ in for maybe 2 months now. its not a problem at all.

what made u get the JB+ over the JB3 thinking about both here but trying to weigh the pros/cons of each one.

Been running jb+ at default for three months. Car is a 4/2008 build. How do I know which version I have. I do not have a BT scanner so I do not know if any codes have been thrown.

Mike@N54Tuning was offering a GB discount on the JB+, and if later on i upgraded to the JB3 i would get the full value credit towards it. i will be upgrading to a JB3, right after i take my car in for service (~2000 km).

for a first time tuner, the easy installation and simplicity were very hard to beat. now i am more comfortable with my car and have other mods so i want to take the next step.

Thats the thing....i saw at least 2 other post where users with 09's and latest ecu version throw codes with the JB+ at default.

Don't forget you can trade-in your JB+ for a JB3 for full credit, so if you are unsure start with the JB+ and then you can get the JB3 and get a refund for the JB+ (within 6-months)

Running two cars w/ JB+ currently, one with DCI and JB+. The 5 (has DCI and JB) has thrown a code twice (reduced power, checking the code Sat.) that goes away upon restart. The 3 hasnt thrown a single code. Both set at 75%. The cars are new (less than 6 months old , but I am not sure of the build date of the 3).

The JB+ isn't going to put a protective code free bubble around your car, so whatever is going to go wrong with it will still go wrong. I'm just talking about avoiding dealer detection. At the default setting I've seen 100s of code free scans, and a couple of scans that had the code but with questionable circumstances. The safest thing to do is to pickup the BT combo, but at the default setting you're very safe, and you can even lower the dial down if you want some extra safety margin there.

I think it is beyond throwing codes but that is what I have heard.
