Midpipes and Emissions
Hey guys,
For those of you in california, do you know if my 335i will pass smog test if I get catless midpipes? Also which midpipes are the best? I really dont know what the means either... sorry. I have a Bastuck quad axle back. Thanks a lot. |

I may be wrong, but I believe the secondary cats are only effective during cold start. As long as your car is warm, I think it will pass the smog check. However, you will fail the visual check. Anyone else?

midpipe replacement and CA smog laws
i posted in another thread this addy
http://www.catalyticconverter.org/law on late model car equipped with OBDII systems must follow the specifics listed-- now with that said if i were you.. id be prepared to replace the OEM midpipes if i wanted to mod the car.. and talk to the shop about how much they charge to re-install them prior to the smog test and reinstall the mods afterwards. or if its a bolt on -- be ready to get that done yourself. and yes -- there are "the right people" who can *get* the car to pass... but they are few are far between nowadays --- ive been a smog tech and know the rules .. i know a couple of guys that will never have a smog test facility ever again -- cuz they wanted to be a nice guy, and pass some joes car, and it turned out to be a BAR undercover -- and pow --guess what __ ur on candid camera__ its the shop that really loses big time. but thats a another story to itself .. |
