My break lights are now key on?

Sorry, I'm not sure if this is the appropriate forum and forgive my misspelling in the topic. I searched but could not locate a similar discussion.

I was driving last night and noticed my brake lights were on when I wasn't braking. I did some checking and whenever the keyfob is inserted the brake lights come on. Any thoughts or suggestions for things to check?

Thanks.

Btw, there is one other symptom that I think is an indicator. Previously I could insert the keyfob and I could hit the start button without pressing the brake and the car would not start. Now if I hit the button at all the car starts immediately.

Is there sensor that measures pedal position but doesn't activate the actual brakes?

bring it in. Sounds like there's something wrong with your brake sensors.

Bah, I hate the dealer and it is a super bitch to remove everything... Any idea where the brake sensor is located? Maybe I did something when I was working around the firewall.

Are you going to make us guess what you were doing around the firewall or you going to tell us to avoid the wild goose chase?

Sorry, I installed a gauge and ran wiring through the firewall under the steering column. Nothing major but I may have disconnected something unintentionally.

I would double check the electrical connections around the brake pedal.

Quick update: I found the problem. I had bumped the sensor and it came loose. I pushed it back in and it clicked into place. All fixed.

Thx guys.
