changing springs on leased car?

What do you guys think about lowering a leased car that I don't plan to buy out? I'm thinking about getting H&R Sport springs. When my lease runs out, if I switch back the OEM Sport Springs on the car, would there be any problems?

The only problem is that the ride will be horrible...The H&Rs will wear out the OEM shocks rather quickly...OEM shocks are not designed to withstand the increased spring rate of the H&Rs...not enough damping. You might want to also consider getting some Single Adjustable Koni Sports.

You'd be fine if you're ok with the costs of installing and removing the aftermarket springs. There are some concerns of the springs not matching the OEM shocks but at the worst you'd experience some added harshness/bounciness. The OEM shocks will wear a bit faster but nothing you'd have to worry about within the time period of your lease.

From my experience...the added bounciness will be substantial. I tried to run H&R sports on my M3 with the OEM shocks...I lasted only a few months before I couldn't take it anymore. The car felt absolutely terrible over the smallest bumps and never felt planted to the road. I bought some Koni Yellows...the difference was night and day.

For the e46 M3, the Eibach Pro-Kits are supposed to be better matched with the OEM shocks. I assume they would also be better matched for the e90 OEM shocks as well. He might want to consider those instead.

if the springs are changed on a leased car, would they make you pay for new oem shocks after the lease is over, if they found out that the shocks went through excessive wear because of changed springs

And wouldnt they find out that the springs have been changed while your car goes into scheduled maintances?

i am on the fence about changing out my springs on my lease, your question is a good one, would they be able to tell and what about when you go in for service?

Sorry to sound like an OLD FART...but I wouldn't do it. Your OEM shocks will wear faster and may show evidence of accelerated wear if the car is checked out prior to turn in. Possible signs of wear include bouncy ride (test drive) or slight oil leakage (visual). If the dealer finds out, they may look to have you pay for that as it's not considered normal wear & tear. The best way is to leave the car stock or buy a complete kit and pay to have it installed and removed with your OEM set.
