335i (with BMW Peformance Power Kit) vs. CL600
I accelerated in the back of a CL600 (the new body style) who was accelerating hard on the highway and he couldn't get away, on the contrary I couldn't use full throttle because I was approaching him after about 120mph. Then I passed him but he seemed to slow down a little.
The CL600 has about 500 crank horespower (V12 turbo) vs 335i + Power Kit which has 326 (as per BMW). His weight is 2200kg, mine is 1610. Was he just playing ?

You: 202/ton
Him: 227/ton I would have thought that car would eat you for breakfast though. If you were around those high speeds I would have thought that's where his V12 would really shine. |

the CL600 does like 0-62 in 4.8 sec. I guess at high speed it should be much faster than a 335i with only the Power kit.

He passed me then begun accelerating hard...I think he did notice He has a 5-speed automatic gearbox, combined with 1300 pounds more and maybe 91 octane because he really needs cheap gas for that thirsty engine (I had 94)...maybe its just possible to hold on and even more

At those speeds weight is a fraction of the resistance of the drag. You were behind him, so the drag did not hit you as hard. No wonder you kept up with him.
Edit: just noticed that you were not properly modded... So might be something wrong with his car Fully modded 335 could keep up with it. Last edited by jippii ensio; 09-14-2009 at 09:43 AM.. |

a CL600 really should pull you at high speeds assuming its stock. If its modified at all you would be posting about a big mercedes that raped you but your unsure of what model since you couldnt read the badging.

People compare cars to 63s, 600s, and even 65s based on their somewhat sluggish 0-60 numbers but are totally unaware of what they can do once they are at speed. Seriously, it is a joke how hard an SL65 can pull from 60 to 120. |

He was thinking about the 10 Euros in fuel it was going to cost him to floor it.

Sounds like a CL550 with a CL600 badge. The CL550's are no slouch, but you should be able to pull on one with your mods. You wouldn't believe how many people upgrade their badges on Mercedes.

He just wanted to make you happy just like I do at least a few times each day including Civics (not even SI), Potiac G6, Accord V6, Altima V6 and many others. Hey, I like to make people happy and I get happy when I see their faces showing how happy they are because with their 20-30K car they beat 60K car
He probaly did not pull away purposely. Otherwise you would need a binacular to see his rear license plate aspicially over 80 mph. |

I don't think cstavaru was claiming a win and gloating about it. He acknowledge the guy was slowing down and was just asking...if
"Was he just playing ?" so its obvious they were both having a bit of fun...by now you should know our confidence levels as 335/135 owners is sky high...win or lose

OP
Did the CL600 look like this: or like this both of these shots I took at MIR during private track rentals. Both of these cars were wicked fast. The older one doing the burnout has seen high 10's at 130mph.

Top-end the CL will easily outrun a 335.
