Those are extreme winter tires that we use alot here in the nordic countries. They're very very good on snow and ice, but somewhat soft and non responsive, compared to the performance snow tires, on wet and dry roads.

I'd get the R over the 5 if you're not going to use studs. Mostly becuase the R is designed as a studless tire, and the 5 usually seems more expensive because it's capable of being studded.
