yet another rave about BMS Powerbox...
Trying to figure out how to put the large ECU back into the tray - 90 minutes
Trying to figure out how to re-install the cowl/air filter properly - 30 minutes The smile on my face after feeling how extremely well 'lieb-shein' responds - priceless This is how my e90 (330xi) should have come out of the factory . Why it took so long for this product to get released is beyond me. Seriously, it's great product, thanks again Mike for bringing back the smiles to my daily driving. To Terence and all at Burger Motorsports - So, does anybody know if throttle enhancing/ecu remapping can harm anything? Haven't read any discussions regarding the potential harm (if there is any) for this type of product. Also, if someone could give an explanation "for dummies" about how this powerbox works, i'd be much obliged.....please chime in if you have any info.... Last edited by ksm; 11-23-2009 at 08:33 PM.. |

For dummies response:
The PBX basically adds more fuel under wide open throttle, giving more power. It also messes with the fuel air mixture to increase throttle response. More fuel +more air = More Vrrroooom |

for me, not being very mechanically inclined, yes, it was a little over 3 hours, granted I took my time and went very slowly so as to not break anything (kinda overly careful especially since it was literally my first time messing with anything of this magnitude under the hood). The ecu tray re-install is very tricky, MAKE SURE TO LIFT THE TRAY UP when putting the large ECU back into the tray. The wiring part was easy, just follow the steps. It's the large ECU tray re-install that was tricky. That and the cowl/air filter re-install.....give it a shot, it was pretty scarey, yet really fun.

Our first install took about 35 minutes and that was with a bunch of double checking.
Side note if you are local we will install your Pbx free of charge! |

Update on my powerbox - took my car in for service this week, got "busted" and they told me to remove the powerbox or be voided from warranty (or voided until it's removed to be more specific). My vehicle is CPO'd but until the powerbox is removed, my ecu related warranty is voided. Just a warning to BMS users, it can be found. Until then, have fun with your powerbox!!!

yep, i disabled it both times, the first time for oil change (not found), the second time for an intermitant Service Engine Soon light that went off after a day...shoulda just let it go but instead I told them about the SES warning, this led them to start looking around in there and finally crack open the ecu and oiala, they can be axxholes now.....they charged me for labor even though they never figured out why the SES light came on. Dxcks.

The only way to find the PBX is to open up the ECU, otherwise its diagnostically invisible. Mike |

Your intermittent check engine light is most likely the evap sensor its usually caused by not putting the gas cap on tight enough. Mine used to do this every time I filled up with gas but not right away and I put it on tight every time. It should go away after 30 miles or so if this is the case.
Btw its not a big deal besides the annoying light and one day it will stop like mine did. |
